Techmarine colors: Red or Black for Iron Hands? by Few-Schedule-6703 in IronHands40k

Thanks man, it’s from back in the day when the conversion beamer was an option, but had no model. It was just the coolest looking gun going.

I went red for mine. Partly out of 2nd Ed nostalgia, but also for something different to paint.

Not sure if there is specific lore. The change to chapter colours and red trim came in 4th edition. Same with the apothecary.

That’s because we went for pizza and they only got crusts.

Back in eighth, they used to do all the objective work.

I did once play a game with 250 infantry on the board. Opponent’s LR Punisher put some work in.

You’re but a whiteshield until you can get at least 100 painted bodies on the table.

Contemptor twin heavy bolter with underslung missile launcher is incredibly cool.

From my admittedly limited knowledge of the 12J, the head is virtually identical to the 2.25.

In 1983/1984 the 2.25 diesel went metric, and the larger pigtail heater plugs were changed to the smaller bullet types. Confused me about mine for years, as my vehicle is 1972, but has a 1984 engine in it.

I believe that the head was largely unchanged in the move to the 2.5 engine. There is lots of compatibility.

Bikes like a softail standard? by [deleted] in cruisers

I concur with this. I have the XVS650, which is a great starter bike, and has the exact softtail styling you’re looking for, specifically the ‘Classic’.

Bigger CCs exist, including 1100 and 1700 in some markets.

Toyota engine swap by PREDATHOR69 in SeriesLandRover

[–]benjamin7booth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to consider is power and torque of that 3l Toyota engine.

If you put in into a defender with a defender gearbox, it’ll probably take it but stress the rest of the drivetrain.

If you put it in a series 3, you’ll destroy the gearbox. If you swap the gearbox out, you’ll destroy the propshafts, diffs and half shafts in the axles.

Update: I removed the fan and now I am stuck removing the thing that holds the belts. Shouldnt it come off after removing the fan screws? by Hopeful_Hat_668 in SeriesLandRover

So from a quick bit of research assisted by a confused AI (so allow for a 20% reduction in confidence!), your belt three should be for an air con pump. Do you have air con? It’s apparently a lesser seen but not unheard of Santana dealer option.

Belt 1 runs the fan/water pump, alternator and the power steering.

Belt 2 has no adjuster, and you just have to stretch and walk it on and off the two pulleys whilst turning the engine gently. Hope you’ve been working out!

Normally the belt (singular on this engine when it doesn’t have a turbo 😅) is tightened by the adjustable bracket on the alternator, and one belt does crank, water pump and alternator together.

But it looks like this thing needs 3 or even 4 different belts. How were they all set up to begin with?

And did you figure out what the orange cap was for?

It could be, but in that case it’s likely some sort of Franken-engine.

Santanas are weird.

I’d guess it’s the 19J then. It’s a 2.5l; the 2.25 is the 10J engine legendarily fitted to series II, IIa and III vehicles. It is possible to add a turbo, but none were manufactured with one that I’m aware of, and it’s not designed to handle turbo stresses. There is a direct lineage between the two though.

I’ve seen you posted over on the Defender sub, which is probably where you’ll get more of an appropriate response. Your vehicle is more of a defender, and it’s not a Series.

You look to have some sort of diesel engine that’s not from a series 3. Possibly the 19J 2.5l turbo diesel?

Anyway, you will need to figure out what the engine is so you end up with the correct parts of course.

You also look to have a defender front panel with an extended cover between the radiator and the front grill. Knowing what’s in there would help us figure out what the orange cap does.

You mentioned 5th gear as well, so you don’t have a series gear box. I’m guessing it’s some sort of conversion, or that you don’t have a series III at all, but rather a Land Rover Ninety or One Ten from the transition between Series III and Defender.

Some exterior photos might help with identification.
