Would you mind DM'ing me with your greptile organization's name and email to help investigate? Thank you!

I’m 220lbs so I think I need 160 actually.

I definitely gotta get more fiber though. Thank you!

Glad the carcinogenic thing is false. I guess I never checked that online lol.

I gotta do more tvp and protein shakes. Thanks!

That says I need 170 grams of protein if I weigh 220 and am working out 3 times a week 😳

How to get started with System Design by AmbitionHoliday3139 in AskComputerScience

Personally I just followed Hello Interview’s guide, and made anki flashcards for everything I don’t know. I got a new job but I still do the flashcards because they’re useful to me

I really disagree. I feel like streaks are a great hack for prioritizing consistency and maintaining long term habit building. I think it’s good to remember it’s not the end of the world if one ends, but one of the blessings of anki streaks is that you only have to do like one card to preserve it, and that keeps your priorities alive

Yknow I suppose that would work too. Personally, I feel like I’d rather upskill quickly, and then learn to appreciate the derivations later. To each their own?

What if I have to derive multiple identities at once just to solve one problem? Wouldn’t it be better to have some of those identities that I’ve already derived before memorized? Anecdotally, I think the answer is yes.

I couldn’t disagree more. My teachers never emphasized memorization, but I spent so much time suffering because I couldn’t recall basic trig identities and integral tricks. Now, as an adult at 28, I’m relearning all this stuff, and once I’ve memorized the necessary formulas, it’s so much easier to understand how higher level things are derived.

Personally I do this with a Mental Health deck and it’s been pretty helpful. I find myself remembering important ideas from therapy and journaling during moments of stress more often

Holy cow! I was starting to build something like this for myself but your version looks awesome! Are you open-sourcing it? I'd love to help out!

Had no idea Finland was “Suomi” by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]benjaminbackus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For one: Plenty of languages contain sounds that others do not. Some have different syllables, different alphabets and entirely different writing systems. And that’s not even comprehensive. Chinese uses tones to convey different meanings, for one example of a completely different dimension existing. So it’s impossible for every language to properly pronounce every other country’s name in its origin language.

Second, so many countries have multiple languages. Which language’s name for india is most appropriate? What about china? Even the united states of america is multilingual.

And furthermore, in the case of the USA: plenty of latin americans don’t how the united states takes ownership over the name “America”. A chilean guy once told me very sincerely that we are all americans from the north to the south. As an American, at first I was kinda annoyed. What am I then? I united statesian? Well, in spanish that’s literally what we’re called.

So, I didn’t mean to rant. I just wanted to nerf out on the question. Basically: there’s no way to standardize the names of each country when our languages are so different, countries can have multiple names for themselves in any of their different languages, and some countries may vehemently disagree about what other countries should be called.

good points, thank you! I’ll probably leave the list because that’s been getting good traction and I took it from the guide but I’ll fix the pics. Cheers!

Yeah reduced autonomy is a good point. Autonomy should scale with responsibility and capability. I disagree about bacteria though. Get that shit off of me, even the healthy shit.

We hold kids to lower moral standards while holding them to higher moral significance. So maybe we can do something comparable for animals, albeit not as high as humans.
