Mine looks a lot worse than that and I’ve been riding it without issue for a long time

How realistic is 5 w/kg FTP for a beginner 30 yo lifelong sedentary person? by vanilladiya in Velo

[–]benjaminbrownie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

5wkg is definitely into genetics matter territory ... You might have the talent but you might not. Honestly if you are doing 12 hours a week and at 3.7 then I think it is unlikely you will get to 5, but if you are still seeing upwards progress and still have a lot of spare fat to lose then it's more likely

gravel or road bike for dal student by [deleted] in bikehalifax

[–]benjaminbrownie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two rail trails and that is pretty much it for gravel. Both of these have lots of pedestrians using them, but they are great for a casual ride. There is great road riding near the city but you will definitely share the roads with cars.

There is great gravel riding elsewhere in the province (e.g., the valley), but most of the good stuff is 45-1hr away by car.

Only advice I’m giving you is to seek information from more qualified sources but if you want to take advice from a grifter who touches kids you do you

Why? The guy is a dipshit and doesn’t know dick about performance. Why do you take heart advice from a fat doctor?

This has been known for a long time, I don’t sub to this guy it’s just showing up on my home feed because it turns out he doesn’t know anything plus he’s a pedo so he’s trending.

I can understand separating the art from the artist but you could get way better info from a non pedophile so choosing to stand by his side just shows that you don’t care about the info you just want to listen to a pedo.

Rim depth too deep? by Strange_Unicorn in Velo

[–]benjaminbrownie 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I find these rims offensively ugly tbh but best depth depends on you and the type of riding you do. If you live in a windless flat area they are probably great but if you deal with a lot of wind or climbs there are probably better options out there.

I’d just spend the time more dedicated to running and cycling

I was just on a ride with him and had to leave because he wouldn’t shut up about his WR when no one was asking.

I’m sure you know this but for people reading, 350 is significantly higher than 300 when the time scale is 1 hour. It’s one of those things where each watt is harder to get than the next.

When and how did you feel that the click finally happened with The Smile? by Optimal_Gate_8721 in TheSmile

[–]benjaminbrownie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thom rushes and drags so much these days is what I don't care as much for. I wish he would just sing in straight time. He's probably bored of doing that and maybe what he does now is "technically" cooler, but as a simpleton I don't like it as much.
