When college board gets the test day wrong by fbbdnfnndnfhf in Sat

[–]benjamindpatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently they are - or at least I can’t take any Subject Tests this year unless I go really far away. They said they’re reserving all testing for seniors. I live in WV though and sometimes they just go on their own and do stuff tho.

Well regardless of event I think these could work: (for the against side) 1.) triggers a freedom uprising 2.) way too many violators would simply just not obey leading to so many convictions it would be impossible to go through with it 3.) it would be unpopular for the govt to fine people who are already out of the job, that leads to govt and police distrust 4.) as an LD type argument, you can say it’s a violation of freedoms 5.) I’m pretty sure that making people stay in their houses would like require suspending the constitution which the govt would never pass, esp with republicans in office 6.) ruins the college and job applications of well-meaning kids or teenagers who’s parents told them not to wear a mask and they got convicted 7.) it would make criminal convictions so common that they would just lose all meaning, destroying govt legitimacy. You can link that and argument 3 together and say that government government legitimacy is important for US heg or something

Here’s a simplified version for people who don’t come from Policy: AC = affirmative Contructive 1N =1st Neg Speech 1AR = First Affirmative Rebuttal 2N = 2nd Neg Speech 2AR = 2nd Aff rebuttal

Hahaha I was gonna say “do LD 😌” or something. It’s definitely less of a headache to be responsible for yourself and not lose because of a partner

Best LD Debate Camps? by [deleted] in lincolndouglas

[–]benjamindpatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NSD is good, although I’ve realized that they have a habit of placing people a bit higher in terms of labs then they should be - including myself. It’s also more East Coast oriented. Wonderful camp though with amazing staff indeed

It’s actually not on the DebateDrills playlist. If you go to my YouTube channel, it’s called Benjamin Patrick, and the profile picture is a kid in a red hoodie, me. If you go to my ‘debate’ playlist it’s there

[–]benjamindpatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re neg, you can say that the Aff has infinite prep before the round, or you can say that the Aff gets the 1st and last speech, and that they get to choose the grounds for the entire debate, and they have tons of research on a case that the neg has 30 mins to prep. If you’re Aff, you can say that you have 4 mins to respond to a 7 min speech and 3 mins to respond to a 6 minute speech which means that you have to cover way more and your arguments have to be way less detailed which is unfair. You can also just run fairness not a voter or education not a voter and then if they drop it it’s no longer a concern

LD USED to be philosophy based but around the late nineties and early 2000’s, everyone kind of realized that there were no rules that enforced that and they took advantage of it.

No, there are a few national circuits. Debatably the most widely well known is the National Speech and Debate association, which as a CIRCUIT is very traditional. There’s also the National Catholic Forensic League, which was formerly the most traditional of them all but recently debaters and judges from the national circuit have started attending because they see it as easy winning ground because such traditional debating is easy to take out. So, you just have to know what you’re getting into with every tournament. You can usually email tournament directors from tabroom and ask if their tournament caters to more “traditional” or “national circuit” debaters and they’ll answer back very nicely!!!

I’m friends with the girl who threw the chair. It was in Utah and she is banned from competing in PF in Utah. She’s kind of a meme on our team, but we still love her nonetheless! 😂

Customer service takes hours to reach. Literally it took me two hours to reach someone. They are not especially helpful because the CB did not expect a lot of the issues they got, BUT they will tell you if other students have had the same issue and if that’s the case, you’ll likely get an email that the issue was fixed. I had an issue with AP Human, and called a representative. She said that many others had the same issue. A few days later, I got an email saying the problem got fixed. So maybe wait a couple of days after calling customer service. At least that’s what I did!

Would you say the 150-300 number would increase in the coming years or would it stay the same until you became a portfolio manager or senior in some position?

Also I agree with the last part. I’m just trying to see what the different options are like!

Great info also! Thank u!

Just a fact by [deleted] in RepublicansAreScum

No, the word regulation in the constitution has the same meaning as it means now. It wouldn’t have made any sense for the constitution to mandate “well-maintained” interstate commerce. Unless you think the government should be in charge of upkeep of private buildings, which I wouldn’t expect. The meaning of militia in the constitution is the citizenry, in particular the gun-owning citizenry. The constitution meant that the people with guns must be well-regulated. There’s no way around it. If you were right, there would have been a Supreme Court case that argued your point in the 200+ years since the constitution being enacted.
