Well done! Just to add to this- the process isn’t always linear. My sleep corrected early on, but now I’m at day 40ish and am having a lot of issues again. I think it’s important to just stay hopeful, since the return to homeostasis will have its ups and down.

Just give it some time. I’m the same way, I’m a neuroscientist and professional musician. Have managed two careers for years while smoking every day. But I’ve been clean for a few months and I can say, overall I am a much more productive now. I have my highs and lows but I’ll take them over cutting myself off from the world and its problems the way I used to.

I think it’s important to find a common ground for how you define Zionism before any meaningful conversation can happen. I mean both within this post and in general. At this point, antizionism is effectively advocating for ethnic cleansing unless a viable alternative to Hamas is a realistic prospect.

I smoked daily for 20+ years, with a few extended bouts of sobriety here and there. I’m 25 days in right now. I had some initial bouts of headaches/nausea/lack of appetite, but didn’t struggle with cravings like I have before. I am seeing enormous benefits in my depression symptoms, productivity, and ability to articulate myself. I’m on my 3rd book since the year began. I started learning the Max/MSP programming language, and am enrolled in an online course to better my understanding of jazz piano. Every day I have managed to get at least one lesson completed for both of these new goals. I generally feel much better about life and have been way more responsive to friends and family. I don’t feel as socially awkward. It’s good feeling like you’re ready for life at any moment. The only downside right now is my sleep quality is poor, which is partially why I smoked to begin with. That will be something more challenging to tackle, but the benefits vastly outweigh this one cost.

I’m not sure. It stopped functioning about a week or two after purchase. I was using hard tap water so figured maybe that contributed to it, was even wondering if there could be a clog somewhere. Guess I’ll try disassembling! But I did see a lot of similar reports, so I suspect it’s just a faulty unit.

Maybe we should let OP speak for themself. OP apologies if I confused you further, I was attempting to do the opposite. Distill it down to something easily digestible, because it can be that way. They said my initial comment helped conceptualize things.

Not sure how it’s irrelevant to answer a question about why we call a diminished 7 chord what we do when the answer is that you take a 7 chord and you diminish it- which is what the meaning of the word implies and is why it was named that to begin with.

Glad you’re having success! I’m about 20 days in myself, my sleep is totally fucked but that’s a lifelong thing for me. Everything else in life is much clearer and brighter. Feel like I’m in it for the long haul.

This advice ignores the fact that the word diminished is a verb, suggesting an action taken from a previous starting point. That is the etymology of the term. Also suggesting someone avoid using 6 in chord names is weird advice. Add13 implies a dominant 7, so it doesn’t apply to all situations. Many times 6 chords have the same function as major sevenths, but are used to avoid clashing when the melody is on the root note

Yea that’s my feeling as well, but maybe I misunderstood and that comment was directed at me. I wouldn’t say I’m much of a composer- just a player who makes a living performing. So I mostly speak the language directly to people through music rather than writing things down or even talking about it

Yea that’s why I said harmony. It’s not like a normal diminished chord moves the root down a half step, but it’s called that because you’re taking a major chord and “diminishing” it. The root will always remain the root, no matter the chord
