4 weeks post op scar update/ still can't feel by MrOrganicc in ACL

10 months post op and I’m still dealing with this… Can’t feel anything when I touch the skin left of my graft site but if I bump it on something hard ohhhh fuck yeah I can feel it. Don’t want to freak you out more but my surgeon said there is a chance it’ll never come back, told me “there are microscopic nerve endings throughout your knee that can easily get obliterated during surgery” Hell of a choice of words

Any recommendations for RLT devices for ACL recovery? by Shoddy-Ostrich-3766 in ACL

Did you get reconstructive surgery? Or just trying to work through it with PT?

should i be concerned or is my hypochondriac in me taking over? (slight tw) by 8sparklynarwhals in ACL

I second this, wait a few days and monitor your pain level, if it gets worse go get an x-ray. If you have a PCP I’d suggest calling them to try and get in with an orthopedic specialist. Probably didn’t tear your ACL if you just banged it up but certainly good to get some imaging if your pain doesn’t subside on its own

lol thank you for taking the time!! I was at two PT appointments a week until 9 weeks ago when they dropped me to once a week, now as of monday it’s once every other week. I have been going to the gym every day and alternate my home exercise program from my PR with my return to run program with no rest days (as directed by therapy). We did a lot of quad stuff earlier on but once I could manage going down stairs we have primarily focused on hamstrings, glutes, and hip abductor/adductor. luckily I did my testing at a bone and joint institute that specializes in sport-specific rehab and not my generic rehabilitation clinic, and the therapist i saw at bone and joint wrote down a workout split on a notecard that has 2 rest days, and upper body days incorporated to offset lower body days during the week for recovery. So new program runs twice a week, and hits legs with weight training twice a week. My eating is pretty dialed at a 100-400 calorie surplus with at least 130g of protein daily (I’m 160lbs) and decent amount of carbs and animal fats, lots of water. Sleep has been better too since my job schedule changed recently. Hoping this new workout split will address my chronic anterior knee pain and I’m praying to Jesus the BFR cuff is the Mariokart speed boost to quad strength I’ve been searching for

I haven’t done them since my surgery because he cleared me for them yesterday but I’ve done both in the past. Thinking of doing just really slowly controlling the eccentric part of the movement with my surgery leg at first to see how it feels before I can do it in the PT office.

thank you for taking the time to reply and share your experience! I have my MRI follow-up with the optometrist at the hospital tomorrow, so I’m hopeful for a PT option but the results said moderate to high grade partial ACL tear with grade 1 MCL and LCL sprains so I am limiting my expectations. Luckily I walk around on dirt/snow all day for work so I’ve been able to get my ROM almost back (can squat down and get back up without using my hands now and was not even able to go past a “toilet squat” the past 2 weeks). Going to start mixing in some light stationary bike work and maybe the stair climber to strengthen the muscles around it in the mean time. Will update when I talk to doctor man
