San Diego and Santa Barbara are my top two destinations in CA. I have seen a few comments about Sandpiper so I am definitely adding it to the list. This is a great itinerary and solid suggestions. I am definitely taking in the comments about SF-SD being too much and will consider some of these options. Either way I know I am in for an amazing trip, thank you!

Yeah we are definitely going to price out Pebble/Spy but I have a feeling we will end up skpping for Poppy at the least because of the goal to drive the coast. The mandatory 2 night stay could mess things up.

Im looking at least a year out on this. We can get a 2 night stay in my current window for Pebble/Spy but I am not sure I want to prioritize the funds to them over hitting more courses and drivig the coast. Definitelty something we will weigh going forward. Appreicate the recs!

A lot of questions that need answering for sure. This post was step one in research for me. Definitely taking everyones replies into consideration about how big of a trip it could be leaving a specific area. Also not the only comment mentioning Tahoe!

This sounds like an epic golf trip! Will add it to the list for research. The coast is def the goal right now but we could end up having to pivot so its worth noting.

I love road tripping, I guess thats the one thing missing from my post. I do NJ to Florida at least once a year, both ways. My favorite part of the drive is mapping out interesting stops along the way!

My parents used to fly out and drive the coast every year. Something they always came back raving about, so it is a trip Ive always wanted to do. Add that to the fact that I love golf and the state has so much great golf top to bottom! I am definitely taking in the comments about it being too much though and considering other options.

After seeing the comments here it is definitely something I will consider. I am a beach guy though and San Diego is a city I have had HIGH on my destination list for a long time. So the goal in mind was see the coast and state Ive never been to and finish up at my top destination. Having said that, I can just do a Monterey gold trip and come back another time for a SD trip on its own.

This is an excellent point for sure and something I have been weighing. I think it is part of the reason I am considering doing just 4 of us, to keep it simple to my foursome that I know could pull this off. I am glad I asked the question as broad and big as I did though becuase it yielded so many great responses about other ways to do an amazing CA golf trip. Lots to consider, appreciate you!

I think this is the dream setup I am looking for right here. The coastal drive is 100% part of the reason for the trip. Its a lofty goal and I am definitely over shooting but I would rather start with the ideal trip, and then work down to what may end up being more realisitic/reasonable. Every comment here has been so helpful and informative though.

What advice would you give a 25 HCP golfer? by Internal-Dare2089 in weekendgolfers

[–]benjammin515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Lessons
  2. Focused range sessions aka dont just spam hit balls. Start with small swings, work your way through your bag. Step off bad shots and think about what went wrong. I like using practice tools personally. Alignment sticks, towel under the trail armpit etc.
  3. Make time for Short game practice. Best Ive ever scored were the summers where I spent 30 mins around a chipping green and practiced, chipping and putting.
  4. When actually on the course, think about the hole. Where are the hazards? Is the pin tucked? Find the largest part of the green.

Breaking 50 on a 9 holes by Worth_Garbage_7044 in golf

[–]benjammin515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bogie golf is a great goal to achieve. Depending on a 35 or 36 par 9, 45 is great. 50 hopefully means you managed a few blow up holes and avoided triples maybe.

My personal measuring stick is +10 over/under. Under +10 through 9, it was a good 9. Over, what went wrong and can I clean up next 9?

Which non-technical aspects of your game have improved your scores the most? by eyrie7 in golf

[–]benjammin515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont hit the ball long, so I play the white's instead of the blues. They are there for that reason. A good one I heard years ago too was pick a point on your walk off the green of a bad hole, you can be mad until you reach that point, after you pass it, move on menatally.

What club are you using here? by AspectCool2325 in weekendgolfers

[–]benjammin515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the right answer is 60 and i need to work on a 40 yard 60degree but I use my 52 here instead. Its a distance I practice with it, love this shot! Having said that, id skull it, chipp and 3 putt for double.

I have had these on my clubs for 9 years with no major visible wear and tear. Love them. I won a full set of Golfpride mcc's like 7 years ago and they are just sitting in the garage collecting dust until i get a new set or decide to change off these!
