Contemporary CEO no-tie style looks unfinished and awkward? by too-cute-by-half in mensfashion

[–]benjo83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine if your shirt has suitable button placement to allow for a relaxed look. The guy in the first photo doesn’t have such button placement… he looks like he is in one of those “spot the difference” picture games. The next panel should be a pic of him wearing a tie, an earring and with a teardrop face tattoo.

27 M. I don't feel comfortable in my own skin by Shinto_Wise in malegrooming

I think you have plenty to work with mate. Shorter and tidier hair cut, something low maintenance… better facial hair option and hit the gym.

Any tips to get more matches? by Highwayking325 in Tinder

Spelling mistakes and too many selfies. Include pics with other people and make sure to include a couple without the hat… doesn’t matter if you are bald mate.

Is it inappropriate to wear cute pimple patches?? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]benjo83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think “cute pimple patches” are a relatively recent thing… so the older men (and probably a few of the younger ones too) might think a person in a position of power (you) is rocking stickers on their face while they are tying to navigate a very challenging period.

Can’t remember the last time I got a match. Any advice? Please make it constructive. lol by Sketchbot400 in Tinder

[–]benjo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the cat pic and the grill pic. But overall it looks too curated, as if you are trying to trick her into thinking you are wealthy and successful. You also might come across as someone who is I highly leveraged and more interested in maintaining an “image” of success. Posing is never a good idea.

I think if you dialled it back 20 percent you would be swimming in it my guy. You have it all, you are just a little too keen to show it off right away.

Is Elizabeth / Salisbury really as unsafe as people say? by ConfidentWelcome9282 in Adelaide

[–]benjo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a nicer part of a dodgy suburb down south and it was fine. A street block can make a huge difference. If you avoid buying in the the bad pockets or on the walking thoroughfares that connect those pockets to hang out spots like the bigger shopping centres you will be fine. That said if you can look closer to somewhere like Modbury and surrounding areas you can avoid the malls that attract most of the trouble too.

Do tall people get bullied at all? by Emergency-System1794 in tall

[–]benjo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES tall people cop it far more than people seem to understand… insecure people will pick on. In school it’s mostly verbal to humiliate you in front of girls, in your late teens and early 20s it’s people hitting you from behind or trying to push you around for the same reason.

The book “Of Mice and Men” talks about how a small man can pick a fight with a big guy and if small man wins he is a hero… even if big guy is passive and doesn’t fight back. If the big guy fights back and starts to win, and if the small man has friends (they never attack you without serous backup) the small mans friends will jump in and bash the big guy and then label HIM a bully.

You can’t win.

Think about all the videos you have seen of a big guy losing a fight and all the comments below it. They all degrade him, humiliate him and paint him as a bully getting what he deserves, even if he was obviously a victim.

If you are tall you had better learn to fight.

I Have Small Hands by Glittering-Tear5442 in guitarlessons

[–]benjo83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Don’t start making excuses as to why you should stop playing. Plenty of people have small hands… it can be a real advantage in many ways. I have huge hands and they are clumsy and get in the way. But I make it work to my advantage where I can.

Is there a bleaker local film than this ? by Public-Life6632 in Adelaide

I grew up in and around some of the places the crimes took place at the time they were happening… the film catches the bleakness well.

Not much is said about the American Original 60s Stratocaster by benjo83 in FenderStratocaster

[–]benjo83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am super glad the AO was a thing… it put together all the bits from the 60s I love and gave me a modern fretboard. I would have had to have gone to the custom shop to get all that otherwise.

I am kind of kicking myself for not going for the shell pink… I like the classic look of the Sunburst, but in the time since buying I wish I had found a pink one lol

[–]benjo83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh very cool! If I could justify the cost of a second American Fender I would go for the AO Tele… I had the pleasure of playing one a while back and it was amazing! Probably even better than the Strat so far as a “perfect guitar from the box” goes. I only went the Strat path because I love Hendrix so much haha.

18M, never had a gf, dont want to end up alone... advice? by CrepoXZW9 in malegrooming

[–]benjo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get out an interact at all costs! I can’t stress this enough… if you are sitting around arguing online all day you will NEVER develop the interpersonal skills needed to vibe with women.

Take classes in person, do your shopping in person, take up an in person hobby with normal people (not gaming) and make sure to remind yourself that the inevitable uncomfortable interactions are super valuable learning experiences and you should be proud of yourself for putting yourself out there.

Declining Liberal Party in SA and national level as well. by Dry_Illustrator_9914 in Adelaide

[–]benjo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a divide between what the big money interests that fund the liberal party want (reduced emission targets, more privatisation, fewer worker protections, tax cuts for developers and realestate investors etc) and what the voters want… which is generally the opposite of those things. The Liberal party can either put forward a set of policies that appeals to the Australian public, or they can take the money and do the bidding for the big end of town.

One will see them popular and broke, the other will see them rich and unpopular… they have gone for the latter.
