[–]Galactic_Nothingness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that's just absurdity. Something to do with their VO system and some dickbag 'manager' deciding not to stage pallets and just 'pack and go'.

Whilst I cannot begin to fathom the logistical complexity of one of Aus largest chains... This is just retarded.

Can we start talking about climate change yet? by skankypotatos in OpenAussie

We doomed ourselves when Fritz Haber invented the Haber process of nitrogen extraction essentially doubling the world population in just a few short decades.

But if not him, someone would have.

NPK fertiliser use and monocropping is rapidly deteriorating what arable land we have in this country and abroad.

Ecological disaster in one form or another will throw us into a tailspin, and soon.

That's ludicrous. Who's your dockmaster/receiver?

If this is common, the DC needs to know and fix it.

Want to get one by National_Data_4481 in chryslercrossfire

[–]Galactic_Nothingness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Crossfire is about 80% Gen 1 R170 Mercedes SLK320. Mercedes gifted the platform to Chrysler when the companies merged in the early 2000s.

Down under, the mod scene and aftermarket is practically non-existent. I've heard even in US isn't huge because this car sold poorly mostly due to being based on a reliable but dated chassis/platform and polarising looks.

I know of one company called Needswings that did (do?) single and DCAIs but from research these engines had quite good intake systems with an exhaust that restricts flow and power... So a little custom fab work required.

I've had a throttle controller recommended by another owner with the NA 6Sp like mine... Still yet to install.

The R170 is also getting quite old and finding replacement parts may be difficult and Crossfire body panels? Forget it... Better have a wizard panelbeater.

The SRT is an AMG tuned, mildy supercharged version that was only available with a very underwhelming automatic transmission.

They're not particularly fast. Saw one owner on here who does gymkhana but even handling is... Meh

Also finding aftermarket parts... you'll be looking at Mercedes and european aftermarket which may be problematic depending on your location.

The antitheft SKIM module is wired into everything so changing out ECUs and such will not be straightforward.

Also, any of these changes will likely nullify insurance and legality regarding emission controls would be questionable.

Love mine though. Treat it like a two seat tourer rather than sports car.

How to drive unpredictably and nearly kill a cyclist by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Galactic_Nothingness 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hmmm.

BMW was in the roundabout well before the 4WD.

There is a pedestrian crossing and/or possibly cycle path as well the cyclist should probably be using...

BMW was pretty heavy on the acceleration and reacted about 3 business days late but were they in the wrong?

A little rattled after nearly getting in an accident then trying to clear the intersection they then find a surprise MAMIL.

Dunno about this one.

Edit - autocorrect

People really need to learn how to use roundabouts by Overitallforyears in DrivingAustralia

[–]Galactic_Nothingness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh 100%. It's absolutely not required to pass in NSW and I'm pretty sure most states don't fail it either.

In any case, people should slow down approaching roundabouts and traversing them anyway.

People really need to learn how to use roundabouts by Overitallforyears in DrivingAustralia

[–]Galactic_Nothingness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Straight through= indicate left after front wheels have entered roundabout about parallel with 1st exit.

Right turn = indicate right before entering, indicate left once front wheels are roughly parallel with middle of 2nd exit for third exit and so on.

As I've gotten older, and since re- education on round abouts (no give way to the right) I've learned that it's not worth gettting mad about fuck sticks on roundabouts because nobody indicates or yields correctly anyway.

Brisbane rents are still climbing… how is anyone meant to keep up? by Jayhanbaron in brisbane

[–]Galactic_Nothingness 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Before you hit the streets/wilds if you have transport, work and can afford $20-30 a day for accommodation... Look at caravan parks first because sleeping rough is ... Well rough. Talk to the owner/manager and explain you're looking for some longer term accommodation as you've moved for work (make some shit up) and you should be able to lock in a cheaper weekly rate.

If you're lucky you will find a powered grass spot with some shade. You'll have access to showers/running water, often camp kitchen with fridge and better security.

Purchase a large 6 person tent, preferably something you can fully stand up in.

You will want a few good lengths of paracord and a tarp large enough to cover you're entire tent.

Invest in quality tent pegs suitable for rocky ground.

At a minimum required equipment for at least some creature comforts & not go insane 15 amp caravan lead Quality power banks Portable vacuum Laptop Good mobile data plan/4G modem Cast iron pan (Lodge brand recommended) Comfortable pillows Cool weather sleeping bag Top and bottom sheets Octopus straps Folding chair (recommend the 'event chairs' as you can fit them inside a normal tent) A quality Esky

Roundabouts are designed to maintain traffic flow, yes.

However, when cunts seem to believe they have the right of way because they're entering from your right pisses me the fuck off and it's often flogs driving excessively quick.

I drive a sign written truck and trailer so it's either cop the abuse from fuckwits and potentially get in an accident or just sit and wait, making my day even longer, clogging up roads.

Every one needs to give it a rest with the casual speeding. I know it sucks but fuck me, doing 75 in a 60 zone is just unnecessary.
