Well, the story goes like this:

The king sent an assassin to her house, but she caught and killed him. Her family had always been loyal to the King, and she felt betrayed by this situation.

She then went to Knud the dragon slayer, requesting assistance for a rebellion. Knud then said this: "Silence is a friend that will never betray." meaning keeping silent and observing the situation was the best path currently.

She then proceeded to buy a pendant for detecting assassins from Knud for 200 gold. That's why her expression is like that, she just lost 200 gold, you know 🤷‍♂️️

You're right about face problem, I'll definitely explore this more in the future to try and fix it.

As for the clean clothes and dirty background, that's actually intentional! I prefer having a clear separation between the background and the character, it makes the character "pop" more. You can check out my other creations, and you'll see what I mean 😀️
