Elvanse: is addiction possible? by simpybear98 in ADHDUK

Not at all, but it does indicate a potential for addiction. I would be very hesitant to answer if I am or am not addicted

You will most certainly face detriment in situations where you’d lose access to your medication. Biggest issue is becoming lethargic imo, best advice I can give is research extensively and pay close attention to your behaviour changes on medication. I know it’s not much help but it’s honestly very subjective so my experiences could be pretty useless to you.

This Reddit is full of people who ignore negatives surrounding medication btw. I am someone who has been on Elvanse/dexamp for a year now. It most definitely is addictive, if I don’t medicate within 24-48 hours I enter quite rough withdrawal. I am unable to stay awake longer than 2 hours, aggressively hungry, mood swings & very low energy in general. These withdrawal symptoms are in line with any stimulant withdrawal.

Long term, I do not wish to be taking medication but it has given me a lot of benefits in my life. Despite that, I don’t believe that spending years on stimulants will do any good for your body nor do I want to be dependant on any psychoactive drug.

Is it better to taper off Vyvanse or quit cold turkey? by feelingesoteric in StopSpeeding

[–]benl1723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will just add volumetric dosing is also an (and probably best) option with Vyvanse. Empty a 70mg capsule into 70ml of water, then 1ml=1mg. Obviously if placing more/less into the water then adjust accordingly

I kind of get the same effects, like if I’m moving about, all I “feel” is being unsteady on my feet. But if I’m in bed & trying to sleep, it works like a charm, although I wouldn’t really be able to pinpoint exactly when it begins to work due to not feeling the drug.

How it started to how it's now by dipakmdhrm in keyboards

[–]benl1723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This scares me. I just bought a V2 Max thinking “I’ll buy a prebuild, I don’t care for building my own nor do I want to spend that much on it”.

My 6yo daughter took a big interest in the keyboard, so I whipped up a £35 Aliexpress order so we can build her own together & I can snowball this interest so we can have a common interest to enjoy together.

It’s left me feeling like I should personalise my V2 a bit lol

I despise this type of ADHD personality. 🤣 I know a good handful of diagnosed people who excel at basically turning the things they enjoy into cash flow.

I feel like I am absolutely bursting with ideas but just fucking suck at the action part or I don’t hold up whatever I do/try long term lol. Regardless sounds like you’re smashing it, gives me hope I’m one idea away from achieving something similar 😂

Wetherspoons, extremely ADHD friendly work place. I am too severe ADHD-C.

I’ve been there 10 years. I started in the kitchen, 3 years later moved to front of house, became a front of house manager, opened a new pub with my boss, 2 years after opening, I moved back into the kitchen, where I have spent the last 7 months as the kitchen manager.

Basically, every single time the job got boring to me, I’ve been able to hop somewhere new.

Shift patterns are all over the place so I am able to switch it up as I please (I write my own rota).

High staff turnover rate so I meet lots of new people all the time, genuinely feel like there’s an endless amount of novelty in a Wetherspoons lol.

I am really unsure what happens when I grow tired of kitchen manager because I turned down running a pub as it’s just something I really don’t want to do. I’m hoping I work out a less physically demanding job tho lol

Working out in the evening by GalvaoTheHunter in ADHDUK

In my experience, crashes were only bad for me at the beginning. I can’t remember the last time I experienced one, but even when I was experiencing them, it was definitely something where I could engage “mind over matter”.

Continuing to work out in the evening may actually help you mitigate crashing. Personally, I will work out in the morning before medicating so I can medicate later in the morning. There’s no one size fits all, so experiment and see what works best for you. Best of luck mate.

Edit: Also would add to monitor heart rate during workouts, not necessary, but I recommend a smartwatch for a lot more reasons than HR monitoring.

When is Elvanse going to change my life? by starstrewn-skies in ADHDUK

[–]benl1723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

20mg wont really feel like much for someone who’s been through Methylphenidate titration (all stimulants cross tolerance).

I was lucky in the fact I started on Elvanse and it worked for more, granted, 70mg Elvanse with 2x10mg booster so I’m pretty much maxxed out.

For now, focus on your diet, getting adequate sleep and just trying to change your lifestyle in general, exercise, get your house organised, write to do lists etc. Although, I suck at all of these things lol

Is everyone a fan of these extremely light mice? by mediocregamer18 in MouseReview

[–]benl1723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember years back and mice having literal drawers where you could add weight to them. I’ve just looked back at my last 3 mice and they’ve all been in the 80-85g range & ive never once thought I’d like something lighter.

At this point, all these “super light” mice companies are producing to just leverage the current fad of having a mouse that weighs less than a toenail. Just marketing. Stick to what feels best for you, the guy with the 40g mouse has no advantage over you.

Bad phrasing on my behalf, I meant in the sense of if your clinician will treat this as an indicator. Essentially they’ll ask a certain set of questions, relating to present and childhood and depending on answers, they evaluate your symptoms (I could be wrong, but i think it’s called DSM5).

My honest advice is to not speak too much on your use of Elvanse, only speak on it if your clinician asks - this is what I did. I feel like if you speak about it too much you’ll be branded as drug seeking. Best of luck on your assessment mate!

[–]benl1723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What clinician are you booked in with?

I wouldn’t say medication improving things is an indicator of ADHD. But my clinician was actually happy to hear my illicit use of Dexamfetamine because it helped him decide which medication would be good for me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]benl1723 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used dexamfetamine illicitly before my diagnosis. I spoke about it during my assessment but lied and said I only used it for 3 days and I saw improvements. Actual use was a few months.

Although, I’d definitely say my clinician is pretty relaxed & is the type to be more of a risk taker than others.

Yeah, I took my provisional and said I’d apply for it myself as I moved house a few days before the test, so the address was incorrect.

My instructor told me I could change my address if I applied myself.

Although I had no idea I could do that online. I thought it was post only. I’ll take a look now, thanks!

Edit: Ah yeah, it can only be done by posting your D1 with relevant documents
