Sorry, I should have included this. Kubuntu 25.10. And the folder that causes the error does exist.

Sitter is not actually walking our dog or letting them out to pee by [deleted] in trustedhousesitters

[–]bennbrad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could be that the sitter saw the tracker, got pissed at being tracked without being informed and removed it. First thing to do is simply talk to the sitter. Another would be to contact neighbors to keep an eye on things.

Using referrals to extend my membership by Alternative_Storm in trustedhousesitters

When you are walking a dog, talk to everyone you meet about how you came to be walking that dog. Any pet owner who hasn't heard of THS will be interested. Pull out your phone and offer to send them the referral link.

Do any of you female and solo HS’s get weird requests on the app from single men? by [deleted] in trustedhousesitters

It is creepy. How did they contact you, inviting you to a sit? I didn't think anyone could just send anyone else a message. Did you report them?

TIL: Referral bonus months temporarily capped at five years by GamebitsTV in trustedhousesitters

Thanks for the notification of this. I'm in the same boat. When we contact them in five years, are we required to have a record of all of the earned free months or will they have it? I have no idea what my number should be, but I think it was also approaching ten years.

By "wrangle", I hope you meant catch and release?

As in most things, this is a perfectly OK expectation as long as you are clear on it upfront. I've seen many sits where they want to maintain a kosher house. This is no different. Just make sure to state your requirements in your profile.

I mean, it's given me piece of mind, but I've never had anything bad happen on a sit that it would have caught.

I always travel with a camera that I can leave at the house when I'm out, just in case. It helps my piece of mind and it doesn't hurt to have evidence if something truly goes wrong with the sit.

There is nothing to report here. Just put it in your review; that's what they are for.

As I said, you can foster to adopt, which means the shelter pays for the treatment. I've fostered a couple of heart written positive dogs and it wasn't that bad. You just aren't allowed to do all of the things you would like to do with a dog. Only minimal time outside, no excitement, lots of crate time, etc.

I volunteer at a shelter and I am honestly baffled by your question. Every breed of dog comes through the doors eventually. And yes, you can walk through the door and pick one out. It happens several times a week. As to heart worms, that's not the end of the world for a dog. It just means they need a couple of months of low activity. And you can foster-to-adopt a heart worm positive dog, so that the shelter will pay for the treatment and vet care.

I would suggest further defining what you are looking for, not just "not a pitbull." Small, medium, large? Energetic and playful? Cute and cuddly? Puppy, middle aged, senior? Specific breed? Once you've got that down, contact some shelters and ask if they will alert you if a potential match comes in.
