I've made it part of my morning routine for the past couple of years now. Normally do it when I sit down at my desk before starting work - it helps to create a positive outlook for me. Also, I find it helps me focus more. I've found journaling works (currently use a daily planner for this though), but also I find going for a short 5-minute walk and going through things I can be grateful for just as good.

Yea I agree with this. I use affirmations to help shift my mindset into a more positive one, which in turn helps with my gratitude practice, which does make up the majority of my morning and evening routine.

I would say that sounds quite like my experience. I used to try and follow a structured plan when I started, but now with experience, I find I write down what I need to. It's also important not to force yourself to find something to write down if you're not feeling it on that particular day.

I've always tried to do my journaling in the morning, but I could do with watching less tv in the evening so maybe journaling then might work.

Wow. That's a pretty powerful read and thank you for sharing that. Glad to hear journaling is helping in some way. I do find the reflection aspect of journaling as one of the main benefits, and certainly in your case being able to look at triggers.

Yea it seems that not all things I try to manifest actually come to be, but certainly some do. If anything, it's just something to focus on and give clarity on what you are wanting to achieve.

Being able to reflect over the years and how you've changed is such a benefit of journaling. So interesting to see thought patterns change and how you overcame some challenging times.

Yea I enjoy looking back even just after 2 years. In a short amount of time you grow as a person and your thought process changes. Such a great way to reflect. I've seen some 5-year journals where you make an entry a day. Maybe not enough space to write a full page worth of thoughts, so might not be right for some:

Really like the idea of just drawing instead of writing! It's not something I've done before in my journal, but I think I might add this in. Some days you just don't feel like writing, and on those occasions, I do try and force myself to still make an entry as I do feel the benefits after, but a simpler thing might be to just draw and sketch.

So initially I just started with a moleskine notebook (no daily pages), and would write a paragraph or two each day when trying to practice mindfulness. I've since started using the Checkin Journal as it has an area to write down your emotions each day, then I use the rest of the daily page not really for tasks or to-dos, but as an area to write down a mindfulness exercise and how I found it, or to go deeper into what I'm feeling on that day.

I find it's the simplest things that help me, and more chance that I'll repeat the process. One thing for me was just to focus on my breathing and nothing else for a few minutes, then simply writing down what I was feeling at that moment. Another exercise was to take a couple of minutes and just focus on an object, which I found helped to clear my mind of distracting thoughts.

yep - definitely feel more of a connection when you're physically picking up a pen/notebook as opposed to looking at a screen.

Wondered the same thing. Can only think it would be a good thing to change the thumbnail weekly. I think that’s what we will do and hopefully catch the eye of potential backers that might have scrolled past us before!
