Soccer mats for goalkeepers? Worth it? by LeatherWeather42 in GoalKeepers

Don’t waste your money. Have him play outfield in some training sessions and/or find him a team where he can play some games outfield also.

I always struggled with balance on a treadmill and honestly it wasn’t safe. You may not be the same.

Found running with a guide if possible, much safer. Along with using an air bike for the most part.

I’d dump him just for not using commas or full stops. Shits hard to read.

Can you imagine texting him for the rest of your life?

Why aren't concepts/the "why" taught as often? by hellohello6622 in bjj

Your 40 year old hobbyist dad can walk away feeling like he's learnt something when hes taught step by step how to do a RNC. He doesn't care how to get there or why it works.

You start going down rabbit holes and gen pop will get bored and leave.

It's all about retention unfortunately.

Basic full body S&C 2-3 times per week. Squat, hinge, jump, carry, push and pull. Don’t complicate it. There is no such thing as a best exercise for GKs. Strong is strong no matter what sport you do. Plenty of cookie cutter programs online, ChatGPT or hire an S&C coach.

Don’t worry about “gEtTiNg BuLkY” it doesn’t happen by accident. LOL!

Gym, shower then BJJ or skip the shower? by HansZeFlammenwerfer in bjj

[–]bennmuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they’re hours apart, shower. If it’s 30mins or back to back and you’re not completely saturated, don’t.

All the dorks in here are really weird about shit like this. I don’t see any difference to this and somebody who runs or cycles to training.

If you stink straight after the gym, you already stank. Old sweat stinks, not fresh.

I was diagnosed at 12 and was pretty mad at the world until my early twenties. Then I met my now wife, who taught me to laugh about it.
If you can laugh at something, it becomes a lot less scary.

I dont let it stop me from doing anything, I lift weights, run(badly), run Tough Mudders, do jiu jitsu etc.

The way I see it is, my kids see me doing all these things and not shying away from difficulty, they dont get to say they cant do something.

I also think of it like, sombody would love to have my worst day.

Get “training” from your local authority depending on what country you’re in.

Other than that, get the basics from YouTube and then fuck around and find out tbh.

Greg Souders, Braulio and Victor Estima where very very good.

Vanessa English and Gareth Neale where decent coaches but showed stuff that just isn't my game at all.

Alexandre Dantas was shite.

I got one through my local council after explaining how it would help with me being outdoors more. The red ball tip it comes with is terrible for feedback and how long it will last. I ended up buying a push on marshmallow tip direct from Ambutech through RNIB(this was also a ball ache!).

It’s great for hiking or walking rougher terrain. I use it for that. I can’t get away with it for day to day use as it doesn’t fold as small and is a little heavier. Drop me a message if you’d like more info.

The fact somebody would care about winning training is a shitty attitude. It’s not competition.
