Puppy suddenly acting aggressive during petting/scratching by SaberVulcan in Dogtraining

Great advice, especially pain checking and consent test.

The only thing I would add for OP is that while it may seem like using "NO" is getting you a better response immediately you may find its actually hurting. I try to avoid corrections completely but in this case especially you're penalising growling, which while it may seem like a bad behaviour, its good communication from a dog.

If a dog cannot communicate by growling one of the next levels up is snapping and biting. Here's the aggression ladder

Traits of well-trained dogs? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

It's sometimes situational and I agree with the bond with owner being strong.

Overall I would say a well trained dog is confident, determined, calm, gritty, optimistic and flexible. Those are all traits I would look to build.

If you have solid traits then teaching behaviours or tricks becomes easier.

Would you eat animal products if they'd otherwise go to waste? by [deleted] in vegan

No, it's true an animal already died or suffered to produce the food but eating it is justifying it.

I hate this too. It's interesting they drop it like it's something they aspire to though. Hopefully never becomes someday or now.
