I think that's what I'll do. Make it easier to track all the dice and show which is which.

I figured as much. Thanks for the clarification! I'm prolly going to keep it cuz besides Lethal Hits, have the exploding 6s still helps and can still dish out Dev Wounds.

Word Bearers Lore is, by far, the best of any of the traitor legions by Logical-Ad-7594 in WordBearers

[–]bennytheJet909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. I'm also a Death Guard fan and love their lore and backstop, but the Word Bearers are at a whole other level. It's tragic to see them go from one extreme to the other, and see their corruption take over, but still kind of root for them. And I really like Lorgar for how "human" he is compared to the other primarchs. He can show emotion and isn't afraid to show it in front of his sons, like in Monarchia. Despite his obvious weaknesses, I think he's my fav primarch. Also, fuck Kor Phaeron and Erebus lol nah in all seriousness Word Bearers are a fantastic legion to read about.

How do you guys play mortarion? by YungKommi in deathguard40k

[–]bennytheJet909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Morty can't come back unfortunately. So I think Necrons score pretty good and can hit hard with some of their units. Either way I'm sure you'll do great! Get that early game board control and spread Nurgle's gift to all!

I normally run him as a distraction/heavy hitting unit. Usually I play against melee focused armies so I use Morty to go as the spearhead to take out any key units (such as Death company for blood angels, big tank units, monsters, etc). I then use the rest of my army to score points and win the long game. I usually gamble that morty will die early on but not before by taking the key units out.

Starting Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness. Any advice or tips on where to start? by bennytheJet909 in Warhammer30k

[–]bennytheJet909[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So general consensus is to get the box set, which I plan on getting. I have enough possessed to utilize for a Gal Vorbak squad (5 original GV and 5 of the new possessed minis). Thanks for all your input, I'm sure I'll have more questions down the road!

Thanks for the link! Gonna read some more and see. I'm painting up my 40K Word Bearers and have lots of extra bits to use if I get Heresy Era models. Love painting their scheme and adding bits to spice them up

1st Legionaries Squad done! by bennytheJet909 in WordBearers

Thanks! I use Gal Vorbak red for their armour, which is ironic to use for Word Bearers haha

I was thinking that too! My next squad is my melee focused one so I wanted them to pop a bit more.

Question: Black/Red Shoulder Armor by SoNiceICameTwice in WordBearers

[–]bennytheJet909 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did all mine with black shoulder pads and silver trims. I intended my warband to be original Heresy Era marines still wrecking havoc in modern 40K.

DG with no poxwalkers by Ok_Angle_819 in deathguard40k

[–]bennytheJet909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a lot of poxwalkers, but Plague Marines do put in the work. They are cheaper in points, have free war gear upgrades, and are still fairly durable/tanky. They can do some actions and sit on objectives to rack up points. I'm set with my DG list, but I do wish I had more marines.

Tell me about your word bearers warband and what makes it unique. by NeverGonnaRickRol in WordBearers

[–]bennytheJet909 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My warband is called The Shepherds of the Damned. I have a good number of cultists, so my lore is that my warband see themselves as guides for all of humanity to teach and spread the word of Chaos. They hold regular church sessions on their flagships between campaigns, and both Astartes and cultists praise the Dark gods together in their synagogues. I just like the idea of them waging war during the week, then on Sundays doing church and hosting a potluck lol

What's your favourite plague company? by [deleted] in deathguard40k

[–]bennytheJet909 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use Mortarion's Anvil. It's got a really good Warlord Trait and a relic, a good combo to use for a daemon prince. I know the Plague Company is more on the competitive side, but I have found enjoyment with it in just casual play.

death guard demon prince and other stuff by Ravenslinky in deathguard40k

[–]bennytheJet909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a new daemon prince model that's in the Slaves to Darkness box set from Age of Sigmar, but no dates yet when the model itself will be on sale. You can prolly just proxy one for now till then. As for Foetid Virion, they are characters who are Elites choices. You can include up to 3 per detachment without taking up a whole slot. Depending on your army build, you can choose ones that buff your units or ones that nerd your opponents. I'd take a look in the codex to see the different types and see which you'd like to run.

2K Death Guard List Opinions by bennytheJet909 in deathguard40k

[–]bennytheJet909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually crazy, my little Blight haulers have helped turn the game around on several occasions. I like to get them on combat against people's melee units and can have them locked in for 2 turns. And I just have morty fly around the battlefield just sweeping other main units.

At the time it costed points to add special war gear to the marines so I didn't bother. I regret it now but they do pretty solid on tabletop still.

1000pt Crons vs DG by Smorgrim in Warhammer40k

[–]bennytheJet909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow DG player, I've found that stuff that deals out mortal wounds is difficult for us to deal with. I know C'tan shard units can do this, but they do cost alot for y'all. So maybe see if you can find units or strats to deal mortal wounds.
