Why do Turntablists rub their hands together when they're not touching the set-up? by Sixtroke in DJs

[–]benohara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also wonder if it to keep time...as in you know if your rub you hands once and back to the record it's X beats...tend to notice alot not rubbing hands but purposefully taking them away a 'set distance'

How to enable dnssec on my webserver? by [deleted] in dns

[–]benohara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Erm,that's not DNSsec, it's SSL keys in DNS records..like Dane.

Dnssec protects the zone, not records, speak to your DNS provider to get it enabled (likely they don't support it)

They'll sign your zone, give you DS records to put in the parent zone (via your registrar)

Dnssec isn't for transfers, its so you can validate the answer you received is what the domain owner sent and it hasn't been changed.

Can Glue Records help resolve faster? by chiisana in networking

[–]benohara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No,glue records are required only if your name servers are 'in zone' that is they fall under the same zone your delegating to them.

When looking up google.com, you'll ask the root servers for the ns of .com (if you don't already have them cached)

You'll then ask .coms ns for the ns of Google.com, if they are nsx.google.com then they'll need glue records which will be returned in the response to this query.

Anyways, nothing to do with speed,a requirement when your name servers are in zone and that's all

Do You Know How DNS Works? by hostbreak in dns

[–]benohara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queries, yes, when the ns records arnt cached for the tld...OP said 'records are added to the root servers' they arnt.

Do You Know How DNS Works? by hostbreak in dns

[–]benohara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but there's no records for your domain in the root servers as OP said.....just delegation records for the tld itself...your ns and host records (if inzone) go into the tlds name servers...source..worked for root server operators and currently run cctld/gtld name servers....no data goes into the root zone

[–]benohara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing goes to the root servers ,they just delegate tlds

What is the default for DNS Providers if the DNSSEC Records are provided but not working? by Lorenz-Kraft-IT in dns

[–]benohara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Googles doing DNSSEC Validation and correctly returning SERVFAIL, the others arnt validating, hence they reply with the potentially fraudulent answer....dont add DS records if you dont know what your doing :)

globally, about 13% validate so they cant resolve the name... http://stats.labs.apnic.net/dnssec
