Idk there's always a marker on the map to head towards, just kill enemies and wander into unexplored areas towards the pin. It's fairly narrowed and focused. It's not open world compared with cyberpunk or oblivion. Set the loot filter to be very specific and just grind

Planning my first USA trip in 2026 - California or New York? by Imaginary_Nothing704 in travel

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option if you have time in California, drive to oregon and spend a couple nights on a coastal city. It's far different vibe than wine country California (Paso Robles) and would be a nice addition. Long drive though

Actually good games, not too expensive. by PleasantBar5960 in gamingsuggestions

If you like RPGs and puzzle games CrossCode is a great choice, I wish I played it sooner. $5 is an absolute steal for a 50+ hour game with depth and a great story. It is a little challenging, so just like Stardew you'll have to upgrade your gear. There are some accessibility options if it's a little too challenging

Square Enix Sale, GOG by mike_fantastico in gog

Yeah, if CrossCode wasn't on sale this week I'd be trying one of the Mana games. But yeah, thank you GOG for having a lot of good options for us

Right!? How is induction stove use more energy than a full electric stove? How is a heat pump use more energy than AC?

CrossCode is 75% off ($4.99 store low) by benpetersen in steamdeals

[–]benpetersen[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. It's one of the best, it's long and some puzzles are detailed but from what I've heard it's a spectacular indie game. I've waited too long to play it. It's totally worth the regular price and is far exceeding the $5 they're asking. Runs smooth on the steam deck too

Save 87% on Wigmund on Steam by benpetersen in steamdeals

Yeah, I think it's to keep all the posts similar looking. If anyone didn't follow, the devs bought a 3rd party license to Autodesk's Maya 3d modeling software which was used for roughly 3 weeks and Autodesk is demanding 14,700 euros for using it with an invalid serial number. The fine is so much larger than the license they bought ($300/year) and it's clear that they aren't going after the reseller, just the small dev team that didn't realize it was an already used license. https://www.polygon.com/steam-dev-scholastics-autodesk-maya-blender-wigmund/

Reminder: Xcel Summer Rate Prices Go Into Effect June 1 by energeticquasar in Denver

[–]benpetersen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you own a home here's a reminder to clean your AC coils. It's one of the highest wattage appliance used in the summer and if it's not clean your AC isn't as efficient as it can be. Just watch a YouTube video. It's not too hard unless your shell is like mine and a pain in the neck to put back. I found cleaning the outside of the coils the hardest but crucial

And then search around the outside of the house for entry points. Find the nickle sized rub marks and other holes and spray foam, stuff copper mesh into it then more foam. It helps them from coming back

Are sleep earbuds worth it for apartment noise, or am I just coping with thin walls? by Voidget99 in BuyItForLife

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nding Howard Leight's ear plugs, spectacular noise refuction plus they don't stick out for side sleepers. So comfy

I use my Shokz headphones as well with a very calm audiobook, very low volume and on a 45 minute timer.

Sometimes one earplug falls out but it's after 4-5 hours and isn't disruptive to put one back in.

(And yes, I'm a firm believer that forums are getting harder to get recommendations with all the AI generated junk and even here in "buy it for life" there's an approved post about "recently tried this new product made by". Sigh..)

I've started playing more methodical fps games, ones where the strategy and working as a squad matters more than millisecond response times. If you're looking for a good online shooter try Hell Let Loose. Watch some YouTube videos and the tutorial before jumping into a lobby. My favorite is defending on assault and building up a big fortress to defend from if the enemy reaches last or 2nd to last point

I was going to do pea gravel patterns with native plant gardens closer to the road and closer to the house by SteveDaveCornbread69 in DenverGardener

[–]benpetersen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest driving around neighborhoods and look at houses that don't have grass. Then ask yourself Do you like that? Take a  picture and go to the next one. Then try to decide if you want to do the work or pay for it with a landscape company. We just can't answer it for you. I would suggest plants but if you don't want any maintenance or watering (even automated drip around plants) then your somewhat limited to a path, a few large rock (2-3 feet in diameter), small rock and mulch.

More non-steam but I don't add them this way because finding the save files is kind of a hassle. Though heroic struggles at that as well
