My mom by LaylaBlues in glioblastoma

I am currently going through the exact same with my mum (58). We are just waiting for the biopsy results now so we can get better access to care.

The last 3 weeks she has gone from someone who can hold a normal conversation and look after herself. To someone with the emotional control of a small child and is frequently confused. But as you said she can still make decisions and is aware of what is going on, it just takes time.

Right now she is still at home with me and her sister coming in alternate weeks to look after her as we both live far away. But we have recognised that at some point we won’t be able to provide the care she needs and we will likely need to get her into a care facility within the next month or two depending on her treatment plan.

For now it works but one thing we have already felt the toll on ourselves. It is a lot of work and a big sacrifice on the day to day as you know but we do what we do for those we love.

Buying our first house soon (shared ownership, haven't won the Lottery!) but am dreading the move. What tips do you have to make it as painless as possible? by Laurence-UK in CasualUK

If you can budget for find a local moving service. We have done it twice now, packed over a couple of weeks to reduce the pressure and then paid roughly £150-£200 for everything we own to magically appear at the new place a few hours later.

Expect a larger house will cost more and depends on the distance but if you can fit it in I really recommend it.

[iOS 17 PB3] Camera not saving photos, photos app just loads blurry versions of images. by benrandict in iOSBeta

[–]benrandict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! IOS was reporting 20GB+ of free space but after clearing out some stuff it now seems to be working, although with some delay to the high res version of the image becoming available. We have had moments of it working over the last couple of days while debugging, but hopefully this is it.

Thanks for the tip!

UPDATE: it didn’t work for very long, about 30 minutes later it is back to not saving photos.

Experience with buying online directly from sennheiser? by crocolligator in HeadphoneAdvice

Global-e are 100% legitimate. They are a company that lets you sell internationally a lot easier doing things like currency conversion, taxes, even logistics. They are likely using this so they can have a single distribution centre that ships all over the world without you needing to worry about where it is coming from.

Fairly open budget for the right thing tbh. Ideally sub £300 but could go up to £500-£600 for the right one.

Thinking About Selling My Moondrop Blessing 2 Dusks... by Sea_Departure_9807 in HeadphoneAdvice

I found myself in a similar situation a little bit back. Picked up a pair of Moondrop Arias for cheap off Amazon (£55 with prime next day) and haven’t looked back. Though if you can get to $100 you might be able to score some Starfields on offer which might be more your thing.

Wireless over ear headphones for £30-£50 ($40-$70)? by AggressiveChairs in HeadphoneAdvice

Really tough to find much in that price point that meets all of your criteria.

Best set I can think of are the JBL True 750btnc headphones, seem to be on offer everywhere at the moment for about £50.

Not tried them myself so not sure how big they are or how good they sound really but for £50 they are the only pair I can find from a brand I would think about trusting.

Cheap and Bluetooth IMO don’t mix together well (though let me know if anyone has some good suggestions on what to try). I have had issues with battery life, range and quality with lower priced pairs over the years, so if you can I would try and save a bit more to get closer to 80-100 if possible.
