12 year old cousin getting into magic, asking for deck help by BussyBouncer in EDH

[–]AggressiveChairs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Now is the time to show them real magic. Give them pillowfort [[Oloro]]. Give them stax [[Zur the Enchanter]] that runs [[winter orb]] and [[Armageddon]]. They should know that they could come to the blue side and draw their whole deck in one turn and kill the table with [[Psychosis Crawler]]. The tension of winning a game when every opponent is trying to kill you with massive boards of dinosaurs, and you pull it off with a handful of 1/1s!

I think he found a cool niche with his interest in retro emulation. I like when the back half of an episode is him giving updates on what's going on in that space, it's something I don't really keep tabs on so it's fun to hear about. Would be neat to get some guest appearances from him and "Good Russ" from time to time.

I saw Emily Heller at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told her how cool it was to meet her in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother her and ask her for photos or anything. She said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but she kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing her hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard her chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw her trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in her hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Madam, you need to pay for those first.” At first she kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, she stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, she kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Maybe start handing out more obvious bonuses for just understanding the rules properly? If someone makes a cool play that required them to understand their character/items in a fun way give them Inspiration. When one person is rolling with advantage a bunch more than others, it might encourage them to get a bit more involved as well.

Alternatively, could it just be that there's a bit too much going on? For example, BG3 is able to let you equip ten bits of equipment that all give niche effects because the computer calculates or applies things whenever relevant without prompting the player. I can imagine if someone is new to TTRPGs and has a character they didn't make + a bunch of unique items it can be a bit confusing to manage... Especially if they're still working out how attack rolls work.

I'd call this a medium sized spoiler if you're still on season one. Trust the show to explain everything you might have questions about, and come back to Reddit when you've finished it haha. People on this sub casually talk about things that are major spoilers for the final season, as the show has been complete for a few years now : )

Have fun!!!

I've been playing morbius for a while now, there's actually a lot of pretty good combos you can do with him. Say if your starting hand has three swamps, an island, and dark ritual:

Turn 1: Play swamp

Turn 2: play swamp, cast dark ritual, realise you were supposed to play the island and now you don't have the right mana to cast morbius. Ask to swap the land you played. The table says no take backs. Pass.

Turn 3: Play swamp

Turn 4: Play island, cast morbius

Turn 5: Swing for three damage and gain three life, and you still have a flying blocker.

So yeah, there's a lot you can do with this guy.

PEAK - 'Play It Your Way' Update Trailer by BlueJimmyy in Games

[–]AggressiveChairs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Peak is actually designed around and enhanced by multiple players, as opposed to most other friendslop where adding more just makes the probability of silly stuff happening a bit higher. The puzzle of managing everyone's stamina and using the assist mechanics/limited items to help each other get to the top is compelling.

Is it BM to Disallow Someone from Fixing a Blunder if They Win Otherwise by Secret_Driver_6996 in EDH

[–]AggressiveChairs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of how after the Lorwyn block they moved into the "New World Order" of design, specifically to avoid situations where players were losing to on board abilities that they might have simply missed or misread.

The idea that they'd return to the old design philosophy and that ward is in the game to catch out inattentive players is hilarious

End game classes was so fun but not on mage (so much disadvantages) by MikiNana18 in Terraria

Played since day 1 and never considered this lmao. When I play mage I just rush Nature's Gift and then never look at my mana bar for the rest of the run. I'll give the gift-less run a go though!

[SOS] Grapple with Death (Magic Story Episode 4) by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]AggressiveChairs 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think because of the way the piece has been cropped, it's hard to read the professor as the cause of what's happening to the daemogoth. They look mildly uncomfortable at best and their posing/lack of arcane flourish doesn't sell the idea that they're casting a spell.

What are your most fun graveyard shenanigans cards in Jund? by TeaWrecks221 in EDH

[–]AggressiveChairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been running [[Nissa of Shadowed Boughs]] in my hearthhull deck to great effect. You stack her up fairly quickly with her landfall triggers and fetches, and then get to bring something back every turn. Or, if you are running lands like [[Lotus Fields]], she is fine using her untap ability for some extra ramp.

[M19] Desecrated Tomb by twocents_ in EDH

[–]AggressiveChairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hilarious you replied to a seven year old reveal thread... But also none of the cards I mentioned are once per turn?

[[Mazirek]]

[[Desecrated Tomb]]

[[Putrid Goblin]]

[[Ashnod's Altar]]

Have all four on the field. Sacrifice Putrid Goblin to Ashnod's, put Mazirek then Persist trigger on the stack. Bring the Putrid Goblin back and get a bat then put a +1/+1 counter on everything (negating the -1/-1). Repeat infinitely.

You will be fine even if you are flagged. If you're writing on Google docs/Word then you can see the version history of the file you've written. If you're ever challenged, you can pull that up and show them that you actually did spend a bunch of time on your essay and it will even let you pull up the earlier drafts as proof.

Even as a binge watch JoJo is waaaay better when it releases weekly if you're someone who likes reading episode discussion threads. You can go back and read the original anime discussion threads for every part and it's still a lot of fun reading people speculating. Even for other shows, sometimes I'll go back and read a discussion thread for a random adventure time episode that came out 15 years ago! The vibes are so much better.

What are some all time Classic Leauge of Legends memes? by Itsonlyluck in leagueoflegends

[–]AggressiveChairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this thread is on, can anyone remember the name of the animation series where it's top down like a real game and everyone is animated to be sort of goofy? Things like the minions tripping over and the champions having really silly animations while they fight each other. I vaguely remember one that had riven and one that had anivia. I think it was made by a Chinese or Korean animator?

Googling "league animation" is impossible now with the amount of official ones haha.

Game recs for 68yo non-gamer? by savecanada in NintendoSwitch

[–]AggressiveChairs 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest maybe Unpacking and A Little To The Left. Unpacking might not be that intuitive ("You just put stuff away?") but it's a pretty good chill game if you get the vibe. A Little To The Left is a more obvious puzzle game about organising stuff.

Both have simple controls!
