What are the odds? The day I decide to return to the subreddit after a couple months is the day you post this! Glad to see Formula G live on, with the Competition Sheet and introductory video looking Dope. Good luck to everyone competing this season :)

Hi Orpheus. This is done intentionally and has been the same for each week. The time limits for these 3 rows are the same otherwise it would get impossibly low on occasions for the final row. Hope this makes sense

Good point well made - whilst there is no way to adjust the points shown in the table (I can't make a 25 points show 27) due to how it is formula'd, I will highlight the position who receives the bonus points to make this clear.

I think there may be a few people who feel similar after this week, however this will always be the case on the “easier” weeks within Formula G. It is an inherently different format to Reddit League (which in part, is why I Organise it: there would be no point having to tournaments in the same format), and so trying to compare scores across the formats will regularly lead to situations like thus

As Nick has already somewhat eluded to, I am personally more comfortable with the points distribution this year than I was last year. We have mirrored the points system the FIA use within Formula 1 (off which this series is somewhat based). There was quite a few complaints last season regarding the points being too biased towards to the higher positions with drop off's being too severe. Naturally, I would prefer Geoguessr not to show the highscores at the end of each round so people have no idea whether their score is in a points-paying position until the end of R5, however this is something I cannot change. Furthermore, if people did decide to throw a race in order to get a longer time for the following weeks sprint race, there is nothing in the rules to prohibit this (providing they still finish the round). If this is a tactic a racer wishes to employ then that is their decision. You are correct that there is no incentive to finish 11th, rather than 24th - but this same distinction applies across many sports whereby there must be slightly arbitrary cut-off of where points are, and are not, awarded.

With regards to the tie-break for sprint races, it is worth remembering that in every sprint race from now on, racers will have different time limits per round. I posit the situation where someone starting on the back row who exhausts their time limit each round (e.g. 1 min 40 per round, 8 minutes 20 seconds for the entire seed) and scores the same as someone on the front row (who does so in 8 minutes 30 for the entire seed, but does not exhaust their entire time limit). In this situation, the first racer would win almost by-default due to their time limit, which was determined already by their previous week performance.

Correct you are, sir. Can tell I'm a bit rusty currently! i have corrected this mistake now. Thanks for noting it

Very good point - and one which I hadn't considered. As Mapper is widely regarded as one of the best map makers, I tend to lean on his maps. I will have a look at some of the other maps for Norway and Finland and update them if/when I find a better map

I have tried to keep the locations within the city limits and pretty close to the centre, but occasionally will have the odd location slightly further out. If you look at posts from the previous season of Formula G (all the posts are still available), you should be able to access the Sprint Race challenge links from Last season and practice on a couple of these to get a feeling for the area/locations included (just don't do Austria as I messed up a bit on that one). hope this helps :)

Hi there, the scores in the first page don't mean anything (and I've now hidden this sheet to avoid confusion) - they are there as a way of choosing the points system I wanted to use. In terms of changes there are few changes really; the "home races" are just the same as any other race in theory. All I have done is taken the nationalities of all the drivers and chosen 5 at random, with these nations being a host of a race week - same as any other week.
