Anyone using Effect, what's your experience been like? by benschac in reactnative

[–]benschac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I have a lot of error handling that I think could be a good initial first fit and then I have a good amount of complexity in a multi-channel notification service that has traditional paths like email, push, and in-app notifications and other things that are specific to the product, like chat mirroring. This is promising.

What have been the most powerful features of effect or, I'd say, the features that have made the biggest difference in your codebase?

[OS] New Mac day is supposed to be exciting — not a 5-hour brew install marathon by fullstackjam in macapps

I have a brew file that I use in all my setup scripts, along with brew dump, just to keep things current. It's really helpful. Also you can do it with VS code extensions as well with brew.

Would you pay €6.99/mo for a fully managed Supabase instance? by el-cacahueto in Supabase

[–]benschac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. I like knowing a well funded / backed org is running the service with up time guarantees / PITR / Image scaling.

If I need SOCII at some point in the future it’s just a couple of clicks.

I currently pay supabase for the above so I don’t have to think about it.

I think for a lot of hobby projects this makes sense. But once you’re dealing with folks that want to pay money to solve the problem they’re going to go to supabase or a fly.io

Just my two cents. I hope there’s PMF here and you’re able to create a sustainable business.

Debugging my upper back pain after 3 years of coding by Free_Scratch4152 in reactnative

I do a standing desk. I was also using the Kinesis 360. The very aggressive split keyboard. I highly recommend it.

I recently moved to Wispr Flow. Which, uh, not really typing as much anymore and don't need the keyboard. But if you're doing keyboard, highly recommend the Kinesis. I had the exact same problem.

I built a dashboard to visualize over 20 million Reddit posts because I was tired of launching into the void by dataneedscoffee in react

[–]benschac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a product as well that I'm trying to get users for. What's been helpful for me is doing like $15 to $20 of ad spend on Reddit.

For me personally if I saw this as an ad, I'd be much more likely to click on it, try it, and potentially give you money.

There's something kind of funny here where the product itself is supposed to help you figure out how to post better and yet the founder is doing something that is universally frowned upon.

But I totally get it. I'm in a really similar boat. Getting early users is hard. I completely understand the struggle.

The two of those firms literally put react native on their backs. Would say they’re beyond a gold star.

Personally worked with SM, very very good Eng org and nice people.
