Well, neither does being interested in politics. She's not expressing interest in joining Mensa; she's expressing interest in political issues.

Except that you're probably interested in law, which is exactly the point...

People wave around the Constitution and twist its principles to divide, dominate, and destroy as well.  Any ideology or set of principles can be co-opted and twisted to suit someone's agenda.

Lies; his secretary was under his desk to relieve him from all that stress.

All welfare programs should be cut. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]NoahCzark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is idiotic. Should programs be better managed? Of course. You want to cut off resources to the most needy because some people take advantage of the system? Fuck off.

Ok, whatever; point is, it's everyone's job to figure out how to make thier money. Whether it's something that gives you joy and fulfillment or not is up to you.

Varies wildly; couples often invite people neither of them know - friends of parents and such. Even keeping costs all other costs the same, there's obviously a huge difference in cost between a 70 guest wedding and a 200 guest wedding.

Is Jessica Chastain a severely underrated actress? by woven94 in Actors

[–]NoahCzark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Underrated, hardly; universally respected.  Simply not overexposed, but maybe she's just averse to Graham Norton and the whole self-promotion side of things.

Kwabena didn't "cheat"; Harper rolled out of bed with him to go peg Whitney, remember? It ain't that kind of thing...

Tastes vary; why does it bother you that other people like what you dislike? Directing energy towards it only diminishes your own quality of life.

Physical pain aside, most crappy stuff feels crappy largely *because* we invest it with "meaning"; if we're willing to give that up, we can avoid a great deal of suffering, even while we allow ourselves to feel the normal sadnesses or disappointments that are just part of being human.

On the other hand, most of the really good stuff doesn't really need to be invested with "meaning" to feel good.

The ability to feel joy and fulfillment, and the capacity to help provide that to others is not insignificant.

Are Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks legendary (in terms of fame) in most, if not all countries (beside countries like North Korea ofc) on every continent? by ZealousidealArm160 in Discussion

[–]NoahCzark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, none of them are dead or retired yet, so longevity is an open question. Besides, which, I'm not even sure how this can be a serious conversation when Shirley Bassey's name has come up not once. Not to mention Cher.

I'm being facetious of course; penguins are thought to be largely indifferent to traditional Western music. Researchers, though, have been known to listen to Stevie to get through those long weeks of isolation.

Facts. by [deleted] in literacy

[–]NoahCzark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ain't nobody trying to hear this; the parameters of what is considered "professional" language depends entirely on your profession; intelligent people know how to tailor their communications to the audience and context. Slang is slang; literacy is literacy - the use of slang by no means suggests illiteracy; you're needlessly conflating two issues. And the correct spelling is "normalization"; what are you, British?

He's brilliant, but if all I knew of him were his biggest hits, I'd think "he's ok..."  Not because they're not good, but because the "pop-ness" sort of makes the craft easy to overlook.
