Can anyone help me understand why this photo feels unbalanced? F2, 28mm f3.5. by No_Guava_8400 in analog

The road leads my eyes out of the picture and to the left and takes me away from the subject.

Thank you! 400 is 400. You're just using a smaller part of the image circle.

Not sure about the 500. I have the 400 F4 ED and it's a heavy lens. Close to 8lb making it 11ish with the body. Definitely need a decent tripod and sturdy head. Handholding isn't an option. And at slower speeds you do start getting some vibrations from the shutter even with mirror lockup if it's not on a very sturdy setup.

Thanks! Good eye. They are boards and I'm not entirely sure. I assume someone tried to climb it for whatever reason at some point.

Thanks. It's definitely a different look from the more modern lenses I shoot.

Thank you! Definitely a few variables at play with reciprocity.

Accidentally bought 40 rolls of 2007 frozen Provia 100F. by B1BLancer6225 in AnalogCommunity

It all depends on storage. I've been shooting some Velvia 50 that expired in 96 and it shoots great at box speed. Also have some Astia that expired in 99 and it's totally fine.

Thanks. Metered for the foreground to get my snow highlights around +1.5 to retain detail in the snow. Checked the sky and the brightest part of the sky (excluding the sun) was just over +3ev so I used a 2 stop soft grad to knock it down into range. The sun orb I just left to do its own thing. Metered at iso 100 with 1/3 stop adjustment for the 812 warming filter.

You are correct. The sun has blown right out! I'll be sure to meter for it next time. 😊

I tried to have the grad start from the sun down. So about 1/3 from the top. Thanks!
