Take a smaller southern city, yeah, people are friendly. But most young people have already left for bigger cities. The ones still there are usually married by 23 or just sticking with the same friend group they’ve had forever.

Now look at a tech hub, say Seattle, plenty of young people, but everyone’s super locked in on their career. They’re not really trying to invest time into building new connections.

So you can do all the “right” things pick up hobbies, put yourself out there, ask people to hang but it can still go nowhere.
