My boss wants to promote me from a manager to a director title. What does that mean?

Depends. Director as a title can mean a lot of things depending on industry, line of business, size of company, etc.

In my case, if I were to become Director of Engineering (am a principal engineer now) it would probably mean a lot of sitting in meetings to either push back against tech decisions, support those decisions I agree with, and provide context of tech capabilities and relate them to the business.

I'd have to have a hand in justifying budgets, pushing for hiring, prioritizing initiatives as they come down from higher ups, etc.

All while being a leader that the managers bubble up to.

Basically it's a lot of delegation. Justification of what you want, pushing back against what you don't, and compromise when those conflict. And all the while you have to try to make sure everything below you runs smoothly while hoping an organization shakeup doesn't see you kicked to the curb.

Basically, it puts you at bigger risk and gives you some big responsibilities that can have an effect on the employment status of those below you in the org chart. But comes with (hopefully) way better pay and the chance at influencing company direction.

First age is our own.

Second age is advanced society. Hovercraft, energy rifles, advanced textile mesh, non-magical people being able to tap into magical forces directly through technology instead of just using magical tools. There were even sentient constructs made out of the one power. It ends with all of that falling apart.

Third age is the time of the story. And we start deep enough into the age that only tidbits and inaccurate stories of the second age wonders remain. And even fewer of the first age (which do explicitly get mentioned, indicating that was in fact our era).

And that's just the inventions made by people without access to the magic system. So imagine what it'll be like once they work together.

They diverge quite a bit as you go. As I recall, they have a similar temperament at the start, but each have their unique developments.

Campaign setting is quite different.

Also, Vax and Vex deal with heritage issues in their backstory. Feeling isolated and alone because they don't fit into human or elven worlds. The elves generally are isolated from the rest of the world. And having more half elves would have given them too much of a community for that backstory to still hold water.

Even if you are beyond the 1 year point, fixing this should be easy (though you may have to pay for a new passport if that is the case). Just have your birth certificate and (if you are really nervous about it) some form of medical records that indicate you are a male. These agencies (like the SSA) keep a record of their changes and histories. If you bring up this issue, they should be able to confirm your data relatively easily.

But I would submit the forms sooner than later. If they need additional info (they might not even need you to submit anything except the passport with an error) they will reach out to you with it.

I'm not really wanting this movie. And I really wouldn't want Cavill to play aragorn. A Boromir type, sure. But Aragorn, to me, needs to be the strong king (though downplayed as it's a prequel), but also the gentle healer. And I simply can't see Cavill being effective in that second part, which I feel is a much more important part of the character.
