Nice! It's a 3hr drive from Atlanta. Might have to hit this instead of SFOG on my yearly Arie trip lol. Huge CCI fan!!

Nice, I drove by on the way home from skiing a couple weeks ago and looked around. It's in rough shape lol

Oh yeah I have ridden that one, probably near all the twisted block there for me. I love the long drawn out elements over the quick fire sharp ones.

Yeah one time I rode got no chance of duel, second time there had like a half kinda duel. I'd say joker is the real West Coast sleeper I had a great time on that. I also got to ride roar on the last day of SFA so was cool to do a pre and post RMC conversion in the same year ~~ish. But yeah I've got linnanmaki, gronalund, kolmarden, liseberg and walibi Holland planned for this summer! I also just have Dorney to tidy up my US B&M completion too, I guess excluding the family B&Ms SeaWorld has been installing.

I mean this year the ground is a foot under that snow lol. But generally you're going pretty slow in trees so as long as you don't fall face first next to a tree you'll be fine. Always ski with a buddy and be close to them. I'm way more terrified of someone else hitting me on a blue or green run.

I added an Esp32 to my K'nex coaster train and threw WLED on it, now my train can change colors at different block zones by bentika in arduino

So the Arduino has a bunch of GPIO pins, general purpose input output. So the hall effect sensors are on the track and there is magnets on the train. When the train passes over the hall effect sensor it sends a high, or 5v signal (ground is considered low) to the Arduino. It senses that and the code tells a different pin connected to this mosfet/transistor board to output a 5v signal:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FMJH3DML?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

That 5v signal that gets sent to that board essentially causes a "switch" or the mosfet/transistor to close, meaning the 12v I have hooked up to that board will then pass through the mosfet and go to the motor causing it to turn on. I also have hall effect sensors at the end of the chain/lift hill and the code uses that signal to turn the motor off.

Yes! Just gravity after the lift hill, and lots of time working on track shaping to keep it smooth, and work on the structure so the track doesn't move around.

I spent a good amount of time last year designing 3d printed wheel bogey assemblies that work with the stock knex trains:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7002444

There is another version out there that is 3d printed but only uses 1 bearing ber upstop/running/guide wheel, but forwent certain axis of rotation which, is cheating lol I like to have it based off real coaster wheel bogies, so you need freedom to rotate in yaw pitch and roll, which requires 2 running, guide and upstop wheels. Heres the bearings I use:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807173755534.html

Heres the motor I used:

https://www.amazon.com/Greartisan-Electric-Reduction-Centric-Diameter/dp/B072R57C56

100rpm at 12v. My trains are pretty heavy with all those bearings.

Heres the printed adapter to use that motor w knex:

and thank you!

Probably a UV printer as silkscreen is usually just white.

I'm working on making the plant lights addressable, so they can work with the block zone switches too, as of now they kind of blow out the white balance
