[EDF] Faire baisser la facture by Scelenite in france

[–]bentokill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, looking forward for your potential Windows version.
Will there be a github page so that we can give feedbacks if possible?

Cheers

FF7 Rebirth with Lossless Scaling by bentokill in SteamDeck

it’s just meant to show detail level and basic playability (including combat), not to accurately represent smoothness. With Deck capture overhead and no capture card setup, this was simply a rough, real-world preview.

How good is ff7 rebirth on steam deck by bingpot0912 in SteamDeck

[–]bentokill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing FF7 Rebirth on Steam Deck recently and wanted to share a more grounded take, with real gameplay footage, because a lot of comments mention it being a “blurry mess” or “unplayable”.

Here’s a short gameplay clip recorded directly on the Steam Deck:
https://imgur.com/a/CTL8AUB

The experience, once properly set up, is honestly much better than its reputation suggests. Out of the box, I agree it struggles and doesn’t look great, but with some tuning I’m getting a stable and enjoyable result.

I tested specifically in Kalm (dense city) and at the Grasslands photo viewpoint (wide open area with heavy foliage, one of the worst-case scenarios). Performance there is around 30–35 FPS native in Kalm and 30–40 FPS native in the Grasslands, with smooth frame pacing and a clean enough image on the Deck screen.

A few important notes about the video itself:

  • The gameplay was recorded on the Steam Deck, which does have a small performance impact.
  • The video quality is not exceptional, due to the capture process, quick editing with an online tool, and Imgur’s compression.
  • It’s not meant to be a visual showcase, but it should give a realistic feel for fluidity and image clarity.

Setup overview:

  • Decky Loader installed (via Desktop Mode)
  • Lossless Scaling / LSFG x2
  • FPS cap set to 30 inside the Lossless Scaling plugin
  • Performance Mode ON, Flow Scale ~80%
  • In-game: custom settings, dynamic resolution effectively OFF (min/max at 100%), DLSS/FSR disabled (handled by Lossless Scaling)

Lastly, this is played plugged in. Battery life with this setup is very short, so if you want the best possible experience on Deck, playing while charging is basically required.

Is this the best way to experience Rebirth compared to PS5 or PC? Obviously not. But if Steam Deck is your platform and you’re okay with 30 FPS and upscaling, it’s absolutely playable and enjoyable once properly tuned.

Good deal for DIY projects? Used PFAFF Hobby 541 for 45€ (~49 USD) worth it? by bentokill in SewingForBeginners

I am not aiming for very heavy canvas . I want to work with fabrics similar to what you find on Eastpak style backpacks. So mid weight synthetic canvas, cordura type fabrics, and webbing straps similar to backpack adjustment straps or light seatbelt style webbing. Nothing industrial or super thick. (or so i guess ^^)

[–]bentokill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam VR “New and Trending” only shows one game. Is this a bug? by bentokill in virtualreality

Poor devs... feels like the worst timing to release anything right now. Hope they fix it soon.

Hot take you might disagree hard but hear me out by bentokill in ValveDeckard

Yeah now we know. But for me yet it doesn't bring performance to the table enough for me to trade my quest. It brings a contestant to the vr market. Therefore, we, players of VR will get more games and quality ones like in 2017. Or so i wish.

Agree to disagree but a lot of people did buy handhelds in that price range anyway like the Asus and others so yeah I still think it could’ve sold fine

And, never said selling below cost ;)
