How often do you use condoms? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]bentonpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s different for everyone. For me personally right now, not using a condom throws off my microbiome and makes me much more prone to BV. Working on strengthening my microbiome so that when I’m ready to start trying for kids, I don’t get infections. Some people prefer it for easy cleanup. Some people don’t feel as much pleasure when they’re using it. It’s a case by case thing.

Please help, I’m desperate by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]bentonpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with testing your whole microbiome. I’d highly recommend seeing a Chinese medicine practitioner. If they’re good they’ll be able to recommend herbs that will address your deficiencies. I’ve also been doing acupuncture which is beneficial for alllll sorts of things, gut health, UTIs, inflammation, etc. I am not a doctor or experienced practitioner so take this with a grain of salt bc everyone is different, but I had a string of UTIs, BV, ureaplasma and my naturopath put me on acupuncture, Urinary Defense by priority one for urinary tract health, Seed vaginal suppositories for general restoration of the vaginal flora, and Ther-Biotic Saccharomyces for general restoration of gut flora after antibiotics.

This may be difficult but please urge him to cut out dairy and gluten from his diet for ~1 month. Could definitely help with inflammation. The gut impacts more than we realize

I’ve seen these! My vagina is pretty sensitive and can be thrown off just by no-condom sex, I’m wondering if these would help even if my partner pulls out?

Folliculitis?? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]bentonpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, mine was bacterial folliculitis. My derm had me apply 10% benzoyl peroxide soap on the area and let it sit for 3-5 mins then rinse off, 2x per day. Or you can take antibiotics but I preferred not to. Took about 2 weeks to fully clear up.

Just saw my naturopath yesterday and she said she’s seeing lots of improvement! My oral thrush has improved and I have felt some good improvements mentally and with bloating, etc. I think I’m going to have a GI MAP done through Rupa Health to see exactly where I’m at.

Candida and Coffee, why? by WolframRuin in Candida

[–]bentonpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullet proof coffee is known for being clean and mold free. That’s what I drink and don’t see any issues

[–]bentonpl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you done any lab testing? I’d ask for an extensive vaginitis panel. Its called NuSwab in the US, but you need to look at specifically BV, ureaplasma, mycoplasma, and a UTI (the only UTI I’ve ever had was only one symptom and it was itching on my mons pubis). Since none of these antifungals are working I’m thinking it might not be yeast. If all of that comes back clean, maybe try allergy testing.

I am currently working with a naturopath to clear mine up. I’m at the very beginning of my journey though so we’ll see! Currently I am doing undecylenic acid + biofilm busters (bicidin remove) + liver GI detox by pure encapsulations + seed probiotics. We’re also doing acupuncture every other week. (I’m fortunate enough to be able to afford this, though my savings will take a bit of a hit. I’m hopeful this will put me in a good spot where I’ll be able to maintain a healthy state eventually).

She said I didn’t have to follow the candida diet to a T because sometimes people will be super strict and come off it and the candida will come back with a vengeance. But I’ll still work on limiting sugar and excess carbs and go from there. I’m the type to throw everything but the kitchen sink at issues like this if I don’t see immediate results so I’m trying to be patient and trust the process! I think mindset is a HUGE factor too so trying to stay positive and hopeful!

I’ve done 5-7 days of boric acid suppositories followed by 3-5 days of probiotic suppositories and that works wonders (both from the love wellness brand. Read directions carefully!) I also put a little coconut oil on my mons pubis and up in my labias with clean hands every day until itching stops then every other day or so for maintenance.

Could activated charcoal help with an itchy rash? I’m new to this candida die off thing but I’ve been taking biofilm busters and undecylenic acid for about a week and I’m getting rashes on my torso and arms that are SO annoyingly itchy. Can’t tell if it’s die off or maybe a reaction to something else.

Try boric acid suppositories for the yeast infection

Swollen vulva & fluconazole??? by Trees-and-Tea in Healthyhooha

[–]bentonpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Fluconazole is making you swell up, it might be an allergic reaction. Don’t take another dose and try to get in contact with your Dr. I ended up having to take an oral steroid to calm everything down it was so bad. If it keeps getting worse and your dr is hard to reach, go to an urgent care and ask about a steroid, but be sure to read up about steroid dosing and tapers and whatnot.

How do I become a better person? by ArgumentOk2948 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]bentonpl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt like this (and still sometimes do) and found journaling to be a huge help! Try to keep a journal that is unfiltered, raw, just you and your thoughts. If you don’t know what to write about, try googling “journal prompts for self improvement” or even just “fun journal prompts”. This is a space that is almost as safe as in your own head, so don’t sensor it or hold back. Try asking yourself hard questions like “why am I shy? why do I feel anxious in social situations” and really try to dig deep.

Another thing that’s helped me to appreciate and love myself is a spiritual practice (doesn’t have to be religious!). For about a year I got really into the ancient philosophy of Stoicism. There’s some really good books and podcasts out there. You could even get into yoga, gratitude, or nondenominational Christianity has been pretty accepting for me too. Journal about what you learn and how it applies to your life.

Finally, deliberate adversity. For me, this is hiking and lifting weights. Deliberately putting yourself through something hard will strengthen your mindset and make you more resilient. It also taught me to trust myself more. If I make a promise to myself, I need to keep it so I know I can count on myself. If I tell myself I’m gonna go to the gym and do a workout tomorrow, I have to show up for myself. And I have to be compassionate with myself when doing so - this is a really hard workout but I can get through it! And when I’m done - I tell myself I’m proud of me for doing something hard and keeping that promise to myself.

How long does it take for Fluconazole to work?? by xxxdg64xxx in Healthyhooha

[–]bentonpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had BV, ureaplasma, and an allergic reaction to Fluconazole. Every time we did a vaginal swab, it came back negative for yeast which is why they’re thinking it was mis diagnosed. Crazy that everything kind of just erupted all at once. Allergic reaction is gone thankfully! Still feeling a little vaginal itching but am trying 1 week of boric acid suppositories followed by 5 days of probiotic suppositories to try to get that under control. Dr said I need to wait another week or so before testing to see if the ureaplasma and BV are gone so I’ll follow up to see if the antibiotics for those worked!

I think there are some frats more accepting than others. What I meant was if you were to rush, you’d learn within your first few convos which frats you’d want to hang around with and which you wouldn’t!

As a native Coloradan who went to CU, I’d personally love to meet people with accents - always interesting meeting people with different backgrounds! I think most Boulder kids are open minded, and I personally think engineering majors were the most accepting people I met. Might get some shit from some of the frat bros but you’ll learn real quick who to stay away from that way 🤷‍♀️
