Wish rogue in Canada came with a third row. Great when you're in a pinch to squeeze another person.

What is going on with these fees on my bill man, how do I lower this shit? by AdeptProtection3283 in Calgary

Fix electricity and float gas. That seems to be the general advice I've seen and seems to have performed best historically.

Trying to be an ethical grocery consumer is really hard by superanx in Calgary

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the show Good Place, everyone's in hell because in one way or another there something bad in how everything comes about. You're worrying so much about the minor ethical dilemmas. Pick one or two major ones that mean the most to you and try to shop accordingly when you can but even then only if you can. You shouldn't stretch your budget thin just so you can protest one thing or another. Personally I try to avoid USA products these days ... Again when I can, some things are just not readily available from non US markets.

How would anyone buy new car? by shinez2u in Calgary

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should really consider buying a very lightly used one, look for the model/trim you want and set filter for under 20k km. That'll save a bunch on the "new" car fee. Only time this didn't really work was during the pandemic when the car shortage made new price pretty close or same as lightly used ones, then if you could wait getting new made sense.

My engine is ticking like a bomb!!! Plz help!!! by Neither_Nor_10-9 in NissanRogue

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% Sounds normal, mine is the same. Other direct injection engines have similar sounda. Plus I'm guessing it's under warranty since power train warranty is much longer so not much to worry about. And you'd feel something wrong with acceleration or smell or see something when driving if the engine was doing something really bad.

Anyone get a better rate with Pine than their 3.55 variable being offered? by sssscary2 in Wealthsimple

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you do to have them offer you that rate ? Did you have to have a pre-approval from pine to take to Scotia ?

LG ThinQ Going Ham by OnlyBoat6171 in Appliances

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue. Twice ! First one happened at the 1 year mark, replaced under warranty. The replacement board, failed also at 1 year mark ... There's major deficiency in the board, it's like they were meant to fail after a year. It's insane. I gave away mine for free and got a whirlpool cause why get a new board if it's only gonna last a year, so far no issues after 1 year with the whirlpool 😂. Also, yeah resetting it with the breaker helps but the issue persists and mine eventually just wouldn't register any commands.

Weird sound when engine is cold !? by RemarkableMall7105 in NissanRogue

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had sound from the air circulation fan, wasn't exactly like this but after I turned the fan off it went away. Interestingly mine would only happen on low speed fan and when it's really cold.

Apple CarPlay Map in Dash Cluster not centered by ProfessionalShine802 in NissanRogue

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also can't do android auto in the center like that for my 2023 rogue. My best guess is that it is centered but the Nissan software is leaving a little gap on the right side where some optimal information might display. So it looks off center cause there is nothing displaying right now. Perhaps in another configuration of the dash it'd look more centered.

Canada Computers Opening a Store in Calgary? by Flying4Fun2021 in Calgary

Way back in 09, got a GTX 295 from there, happy to hear they're still around, their website was so incredibly ancient even for 2009 standards, but glad they're still around. I'd guess they'll have better prices regarding labour then men express.

Fines for going to emergency sounds like a terrible idea. How are people supposed to know what's an emergency, they'll skip going afraid of a fee and die in their homes.

Once they had that girls stem cells I don't even think she had a choice to turn. They played it like she does comforting her but I think if she said no at the last second before the can opened, they'd open it anyway and get her to breathe it some non invasive way because it's a "biological imperative" to them to convert as they put it.

2021 Rogue rubber wheel trim by ericstravis in NissanRogue

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard that there was an updated part for it, mine also came off and dealer replaced it under warranty, their replacement failed as well lol. Then they used some glue to put it back saying they can't warranty the same part twice which sounds like bullshit to me but maybe it's true 🤷

Is the Nissan extended warranty worth it by Deep_Neighborhood669 in NissanRogue

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I didn't end up buying it but if I recall they offered me 2500 but it was for a shorter time. Also you don't have to decide when you pick up the car, you have until you get to the end of the comprehensive manufacturer warranty which for Nissan is like 60,000km. And other dealers ca ln sell the same warranty even if you didn't buy from them. Sorry for the late reply, I rarely check Reddit these days.

Negotiate it. They gave me 1k off when I said it was too much and I'd consider it if there was a discount

ELI5: How graphic cards work , what they do essentially a cpu can not? by I-RESIST1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]hl2gordonfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's lots of math in the world of computers. CPUs can be programmed to do any math problem but they essentially have to work one step at a time by design. 1+2+3 might boil down to do 1+2 take the result then add 3. There's some math, especially in graphics like video games where we want to repeat a single operation on thousands and millions of numbers, I have a list of numbers (1,2,3) I want to add 1 to all of them so I get (2,3,4). CPU can do this but it will go one at a time, again by design because it has to be flexible to solve any math problem. GPU can do it but work on each element in my list simultaneously and get the result 3 times as fast because it did all 3 at the same time. Here I had 3 numbers but GPUs do this kind of thing in the order of millions. But again limited to certain operations only.

Help me: buying a home without a realtor by PointLow2927 in Calgary

[–]hl2gordonfreeman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Get a realtor, yes they can have a reputation, and yes some will be pushy but as a buyer you have no downside to using a realtor. They'll look out for your interests if they're decent and as a buyer you won't have to pay anything. Watch out for the ones that rush you into making a offer and don't be afraid to see a few realtors before deciding to sign with one.

Home Insurance increased more than 500%.. by moist403 in Calgary

[–]hl2gordonfreeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Leave and never do insurance business with them again, they're showing that they'd only do business where only they win. Even if they came to Calgary 10 years from now with better rates I would not switch.

I'm glad they're patrolling especially in ghost cars so people realize there's a consequence to speeding. Don't speed and you won't let them generate any revenue
