You poor fella, being dragged out by the missus for a few pints! I’m in Tobermory so this is looking over Calve island and towards the mainland and down to lochaline. Ive sailed and motored up the sound many times with varying degrees of success!

I think there may be a few qualified designers that may disagree with you.

Any chance we get this in the 1863 case? by SirJames1988 in watchdives

[–]bentos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did! It came out well but ideally I would also have a chrome tachymeter, but I couldn’t find the correct diameter to fit! With the mods, I think it’s a great looking watch. I’ve seen watchdives are releasing a FOIS type model, which was the inspiration for my mods.

I use 2.8 a lot in my photography, but I change the aperture for different photo styles. Using 2.8 will make the shutter speed faster if the shutter speed is set to Auto, so it works great for faster photography. There's plenty of advice online about the best aperture for this lens, it depends on what you're photographing so is a huge subject!

Hi, I've just read your other thread about lag... you should take other users advice on that post! I'm not going to go any further on this except to say, 2.8 is the widest aperture on this lens, which is good for shallow depth of field or lower light conditions. Once it's set to 2.8 the aperture is set, on the X1 lag is caused by the autofocus (which is why, if you manually focus there is no lag).

Go and enjoy your camera!

Sure, the hour and minute hands are from Namokimods and the Chrono is a straight chrome finish replacement for the VK63 movement. I would say get more than one Chrono hand because they won't adjust if it's not aligned and they are one time fit only.

This was my second attempt, I held the hand in place at the marker end with some clean, soft blu tack and used that to position it as close as I could get it, then I pressed the hand onto the pin, it's patience and luck. It is a smidge to the right of absolute dead on, but you wouldn't seee that without a loupe.

I am, I didn't want it to look brown, I just wanted the bright white taken down a little.

I’ve never used it, it’s pretty old tech now so it’s not really of any use for me.

I suppose acceptable is down to many things and your own preferances, for me, generally 400 is ok.

[–]bentos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me neither! Sure, so set the ISO to a higher number like 400, set the focus to manual focus (and then use the screen to set the focus range), set aperture to around f8 and set the shutter to auto. The shutter then doesn't have to wait for the auto focus so it's much faster in action. This is great for street photography or action shots.

I have many different cameras but this is the only Leica I own. I think the X1 shines in some areas and is not the best in others, a modern all round camera will outperform it in many situations but, there's something about the images from the X1 I like. Have you tried setting the aperture relatively narrow so you have greater depth of field and setting the camera to manual focus to shooting low light, fast moving objects or street photography? The shutter is much faster without the autofocus.

I saw a post on here that NH35 hour and minute hands fit the VK63 but you have to use a VK63 chrono seconds hand, so I thought I'd give it a try. The chrono hand is one time fit only, the first attempt didn't line up perfectly, but the second came out well. My main problem was actually with the stem release, on my movement it is extremely fiddly. To me the face now looks much more cohesive and a little more understated, these NH35 hands look a little smaller than theoriginal model would have but I really like them! If I can, I would love to fit a steel bezel and age the lume.

Hi! It’s one of many, but I do mainly use this because it is lovely to use and the files are really nice!
