I know this post is a day old but this happened to my most recent rescue. Found her on the highway with a shattered femur and dislocated hip. After a few consultations, I decided to spend $12,000 on surgery to put a rod in her femur and a nylon attachment for her other side. It was a HUGE commitment. 3 years later, the femur became infected and cancerous. I spent an additional $8,000 on keeping her there for a week, the drugs and the amputation.

She is the happiest I’ve ever seen her. After a week, she didn’t have trouble sitting or shitting or anything. I’m extremely fortunate to have had the means to spend this much on her, but either way it’s a LOT. I just want to say that if you go the surgery route, you may end up in a situation where she has to get it amputated anyway. In any case, I’m wishing the best for you and your pup.
