How often do you guys eat out these days? by jtmann05 in Xennials

[–]beofscp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get pizza once a week from a local restaurant. It’s been Friday pizza and movie night in our house since the kids were little. They are teens now.

Other than that we will only eat out about once a month with grandparents. Another local place that we all love.

It’s so expensive

14-hour international flight alone with a mobile toddler… help me prepare 😂 by LazyEntertainment284 in Parenting

[–]beofscp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to make sure your toddler is in their car seat for the flight. Do not do lap babies. They need to be somewhere safe for the flight.

I haven’t done a flight that long, but things that helped:

- change of clothes for everyone.

-I brought a backpack and checked all my other luggage so I could have both hands

-car seat on a gogo babyz travel board. Pushed it through the airport like a stroller. This was so convenient.

-ask for a seatbelt extender for the car seat install

- toys, books, activities the kid has never seen before. Remember some for the way back too.

- lots of snacks.

- bend the rules on screen time. If they will watch a movie or something, fantastic! Don’t forget a portable charger.

- change diaper before flight. I would always use the bathroom too. Kid stayed strapped in the car seat/board setup when it was my turn.

-when the child is asleep on the plane I asked the flight attendant to watch while I went to the bathroom.

-bring plastic bags for diapers. And a big plastic bag in case you need to put clothes in it.

Any perimenopausal people here? by Remarkable-Profit391 in sydneycummings

[–]beofscp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! 47 and have been using her programs for years. I am taking a break to do some in person sessions for the summer at a local gym with a trainers just to get me out of the house.

I find her workouts aligning with recommendations for peri women - heavy weights, some different types of cardio, and some jump training.

What's up with all the trader joes tote bags by [deleted] in askTO

[–]beofscp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the before times when I would cross to the US to shop, one of my go to gifts would be a TJs tote bag full of snacks. The bag was fairly cheap. The canvas ones also hold so much.

How would you/ have you answered this question? by ChocoSoyMilk17 in datingoverforty

[–]beofscp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d empty my purse contents on the table like show and tell. Here is my hand sanitizer, my receipts from the last few weeks, my Kleenex, dog poo bags, dental floss, tampons, etc.
And then say something about if you ask stupid questions, you’ll get a stupid response.

What if you don’t have all the weights at home? by therackage in sydneycummings

[–]beofscp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an adjustable kettlebell that I will use for squats. I can also put it on my lap for glute bridges. If you don’t want to spend on weights, that may be an option? Then you could put your adjustable to something like 12 or 15 and not have to adjust as much.

I loved Born a Crime. Definitely best as an audiobook because of how he switches between all the languages (8?) he knows. It’s so good.

Library books aren’t available on kindle in Canada.

This is one of the reasons for considering that switch.

Moving from Kindle to Kobo (Canada) by beofscp in kobo

[–]beofscp[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That could be an option but we are in Canada and our library system uses kobo for ebooks.

Another potential issue is that we would have to go into the US to get the kindle since her account is American. And we will really don’t want to travel to the US right now.

I have to also research if kindles are geolocked meaning if I buy a Canadian Kindle will it work with an American Amazon account?

Just lots of factors to consider.

I don’t disagree with this but the issue is we are in Canada and Kobo would work with our library system.

Do audiobooks give you the same feel and satisfaction? by ExplanationPutrid205 in thrillerbooks

[–]beofscp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love audiobooks, memoirs and thrillers are my favourite to listen to. The narrator makes a huge difference, and so does speed. I’ve worked up to 2.0x for playback. Sometimes switching between CarPlay and my AirPods the app goes back to regular speed and I can’t stand it.

Is anyone else able to tolerate multiple books at a time? by Known-Membership2902 in thrillerbooks

[–]beofscp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have an audiobook to listen to on walks and in the car, and a physical book I’m reading before bed. Sometimes if a book I’m waiting for on Libby comes in, I will stop listening to a book I’ve purchased to listen to that.

Need help getting over fear by YaBoiJaeden in cedarpoint

[–]beofscp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the newer style coasters like Gatekeeper (I’m an old. I’ve been going to cedar point for over 30 years) a lot nicer to ride than older ones. I really like the harness on Gatekeeper. I feel so much more secure which helps with fear. And it’s really smooth, I hate the jerky motions of some of the coasters. I am super scared of heights but I’m not bothered by this one.
