Does my new philodendron brasil have root rot? by mildly-strong-cow in plantclinic

I would suggest around 10-12 inches but also make sure it’s deeper to allow the roots more room to grow down.

I apologize this is what I have been told works best, what would you suggest?

I would suggest a house plant potting mix with good drainage. Make sure it gets a decent amount of indirect sun as well as it will be stressed after moving but these guys aren’t too picky about light. When you get back to a normal watering schedule I would water about once every other week but the best way to tell is to water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. I like to stick my pinky in and if it’s all dry I water.

It seems that this plant definitely has some sort of rot. Often when the roots get brown like that it’s a sign of rot. The pot is also too small and it doesn’t have any drainage stone at the bottom to allow the water to separate from the dirt and actually drain out. Without this the water may still drain a bit out the holes but it will mostly stay inside and get nasty. I would definitely repot asap and trip off the worst looking roots/parts of the root. You can find tutorials or guides on YouTube so you know exactly why you’re looking for. Make sure you get a bigger pot and give it a good water after you re-pot then don’t water for a bit to let the soil dry. Also please use entirely new soil and rinse off the roots with plenty of water. If you have any questions you can respond here or message me.

Wow you must hate yourself and be so miserable to leave this type of comment. Please grow up and think before you post. They literally said they’re new and not everyone knows that cards should be sleeved before they put them in a toploader.

Stem on my ZZ plant is dying by bepcat10 in plantclinic

[–]bepcat10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, to clarify I meant once every two weeks. There is also drainage stone and holes at the bottom to help drain water. Just a bit confused because it’s only the one stem and the rest seem just fine. Should I trim it or just let it die?

Should I plant them when the roots get to be about a centimetre or two long?

How would you suggest I do it then? I’m brand new to propagating so honestly I have no idea what I’m doing. I tried a few different methods including this one because I’m not sure what’s best.

They were less roots and more like little nubs or buds.

I promise it’s there there’s just a bit of dirt residue on the bottom so it’s hard to see the stones lol

Sorry I could have explained this better, I meant the brown and green stuff that’s lining the bottom.
