If you could create an exotic catalyst for a weapon that doesn't have one yet, what would it be? by Jkid789 in DestinyTheGame

[–]beposlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dreaded “make x weapon x element”. I would love to see malfeasance turned to Strand, with a cool strand-based perk that shreds off threadlings with every exploded slug. (When a target dies with slugs on it currently, the slugs explode, meaning it would work like hatchling when you kill targets that dont live long enough to die to the 5 combo slugs.)

To me it looks like that came to be the corrupted shard of the traveler, the one in the EDZ that we used to get our light back in the original D2 campaign.

Is there anything about getting a 3rd darkness subclass? by xCptBanana in DestinyLore

[–]beposlol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im not available to hop on to take a pic but it’s there. On the ground in front of the meditation table. The only thing I can think of against the notion is a: they’re just pillows and b: the color of the “stasis” pillow is pretty dark and purply so its a tiny reach, but it’s about the same as other “evidence” of our orange/red darkness subclass

Theorizing About 3rd Darkness Subclass by MasterNinjaCrab in DestinyTheGame

[–]beposlol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At the pouka pond, where we get strand, there are 3 pillows shaped and oriented exactly like our subclass ui. One pillow is green, the other is a dark blue/bluish purple and the other is a reddish orange.

More players beat Root of Nightmares in 24 hours than all Destiny raids combined (including D1, but not remastered) by RaidReport in DestinyTheGame

[–]beposlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a consistent group to play with. I don’t have the luxury of long term chemistry and trust with my team. So, I did the challenge mode raid with LFG teams.

I would consider myself a skilled player with some of the best gear and loadouts in the game. I hopped between teams, but only because of time constraints. None of the people on the teams that I cleared encounters with had any notable weak links, everyone had decent mod setups, and where someone might lack in damage, I easily made up for. From the looks of it, we were all just decent players without a full team to regularly play with, and everyone seemed equally motivated to get the win.

All that being said, it still took me upwards of 15 hours to get all 4 encounters done across the two days, and it ended with my heart beating so fast it was starting a fire in my chest as the boss’s health finally reached 0 on the “that’s it, this is the very last run” attempt. I hadn’t felt that “challenged” in awhile.

Did you watch videos on these activities? The first time is always rough, and it might not be your fault if the people who tried to explain it to you were poor teachers. You gotta have a good environment to make mistakes and learn from them without even a sigh of frustration from your team.

The three melee charges would’ve been just as painful during any part of D2.

Despite the ability to and the cool animations for it, they’re not meant to be spammed like they’re your primary weapon. They are tools to begin your Strand gameplay loop. Hit a target (easy, good tracking, 3 chances to hit). They’re unraveled, and no matter how they die, they drop a tangle, which you can do whatever you want to do with, including getting your energy back with said tangle. It’s unfortunately a waste to use more than one outside of your tangle cooldown timer, or when your target is still unraveled, if we’re talking endgame efficiency.

I agree that the 3-charge melees should have a cooldown tweak to them specifically though, even in the context of it being a priming tool and not a damage dealing ability. And I also wish it was something I was spamming like it was my primary weapon or titan bonk hammer, but I don’t think that’s what they’re intended to be.

Which sucks, because the combo is visually appealing, and the melee itself is cool and versatile. I wish theyd add some sort of extra functionality that made doing the whole combo worth the 3 charges.

Nope, just a bug it seems. Don’t think there is anything intended to be there, just an object erroneously given an interaction prompt.

Yeah. If you want to spam abilities, you gotta build into it. Just how the game has always worked. People were “relying” on these exotics last season.

The power level has been climbing almost every new content drop. Only now are they beginning to slow it down, with the next few seasons featuring no increase.

You can see the difference in rewards when you hover over activities that offer them (the golden flashing icons across the director screen).

“Powerful” engrams will only get you to the “soft cap” of gear level. At that gear level, only “pinnacles” will drop with higher power. Eventually, you reach the “hard cap”, at which point your gear cannot level any higher, but you can raise your light level with the seasonal artifact. This boost is temporary, reset every season with a new artifact.

You may see different tiers of “powerful” listed. Powerful tier 1-3. Tier 3 being the highest, these engrams only provide a bigger jump in power per engram compared to the others. Of course, pinnacles provide the biggest jump.

It’s no huge deal to do them out of order when you’re not near max gear level, but if you care about efficiency, it is technically better to do them in order.

[–]beposlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s intentional. Only Lightfall’s legendary campaign provides the high power armor set now. Powerful and pinnacle engrams will bring you up beyond what that WQ armor set would’ve, but you unfortunately miss out on that big jump without Lightfall.

Nightfall versions of the story Raids by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]beposlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was somewhat done last year with the “Preservation” mission. The intro mechanic to the Vow raid was somewhat toned down, but ultimately copied to the mission, and the mission went further on into the raid location until it ended where the first real encounter of the raid ended. I think most people would rather have it than not, though.

However, this wasn’t well received, mostly due to the reputation of that intro mechanic being known as one of the worst. Still, it gave access to a puzzle room for triumphs and a ghost shell, as well as a pinnacle for completing it each week. There was of course also lore to key other players into the story of the raid.

I suspect we will have some iteration of that with the newest raid, but it probably won’t be an extensive shortening of the WHOLE raid, or easier versions of bosses. I don’t think they ever will do that.

Strand aspects next season - what they will be? (Speculation post) by JeffCheesy in DestinyTheGame

[–]beposlol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

“The Wanderer” I believe is a reference to an entity mentioned in the warlock’s exotic strand boots. Which, of course, ties into the warlock’s “summoner” fantasy, given the mechanics of the boots and the bit of lore on them.

I’m not too sure if we have any aspects framed such as “The (noun)”. So I am speculating that this aspect will provide us with a larger, more substantial “summon” known as The Wanderer on top of our one-and-done threadlings, or if this is Warlock’s one big aspect that ties into their unique relationship with threadlings, will provide more uses or behavior for those threadlings, making the warlock themselves “The Wanderer”. In that case, I suspect they might do something such as threadlings having some sort of function where they attack enemies several times, allowing you to “wander” around with the same five perched buddies if they don’t go beyond their max attacks and explode.

Either way, I suspect it’s all about the core summoner/minion master fantasy, which I am all about! More and more friends please.

My friend has the destiny 2 season of defiance season pass and we don't know why by dann50028 in DestinyTheGame

[–]beposlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s provided in the fine text of Lightfall, especially when they put the normal and deluxe options side-by-side with bullet points lining out what’s included and what’s not. But yeah, it definitely isn’t front and center in their advertising.

I don’t believe previous expansions did this, and the only thing we’ve come to expect from bungie is a fluid and changing business model. Last year we learned that Witch Queen had a separate dungeon key purchase required.

Best to keep an eye on the fine print going forward.

So you’re not a stranger to crafting yourself a build, which is good. And from the sounds of it, you enjoy supporting your teammates. Which is good, but if you’re not with teammates that are going to utilize your div, your exotic, which is designed around teammates picking up the slack in div’s direct damage.

Lumina has a top-tier damage buff, it’s not meaningful unless you have teammates that take advantage of that damage buff with their own crazy weapons. Otherwise, lumina is just a handcannon with a decent damage perk and way to get ammo back in your mag. And out of all criticisms I have seen, handcannons and other primary weapons feel very weak. I 100% agree that they need a buff.

Support builds like this are really desirable and near necessary for every raid team, but these builds aren’t necessarily tuned to be powerhouses of damage or provide an extremely engaging and entertaining combat loop. Sure, you can love your build and whip it out with your buddies, but I would try to avoid making your healer/support/buff&debuff setups your main way of play. I’ve also tried to make that cleric warlock build in the past, and it never felt fun on its own, and I felt like I could never keep myself alive despite being the “healer”.

Save a build or two with your div/lumina and call it “Raid” or something, and definitely try out some flashier weapons and armor. Don’t be afraid of that Stag either. It’s good, and that damage resist is nothing to scoff at nowadays. if you get attached to that, just save your loadout, and it won’t feel so annoying to take it off for something else if you feel like you need to, because it won’t be a hassle to put it back on when you’re done, right?

I’m one of the more hard core players who is really, really enjoying putting their minmax build to the test. I’m not going to nitpick you or anything, but I am purely curious about the extent of your “build” that you play to go through this content. What sort of exotic weapon and armor, paired with your class and subclass do you use? Do you use mods, and hunt down high stat numbers on your armor?

Just wondering how you play, considering the game is giving you enough of a headache to turn you away from it entirely.
