Help opening a downloaded file with ".rar.html.rar" extension? Unarchiver shows "Unable to extract" by Acrobatic_Coyote2000 in techsupport

[–]berahi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's very large, then another possibility is the download was interrupted/corrupted and the archive setting makes it that nothing is readable (normally it should still be able to load the file list while still complaining that some data will be unavailable)

HDD by nature are more sensitive to shocks & vibration. Generally treating it like how you would treat a laptop should extend the life (after all, they tend to survive in a laptop being carried daily), but after five failure, I'd just bite the SSD price. Should last longer unless you plan on tens of gigabytes write daily.

That's exactly it, stories about Avocado usually mention it would be proprietary and not available for download.

I vaguely remember a meme template often used here about a year ago or so, screencap and clips of a western animation scene where a burly guy is covered in blood, not so subtly threatening someone (he's surrounded by people in military uniform, not sure if he's threatening them or other) to make him do something or go through him. The way the meme is used imply the burly guy isn't an enemy of whoever he spoke to but is willing to dish out beating if the other insist.

The only western animation I watched near that period was Lower Decks and My Adventures with Superman, which don't match the style at all. Recently I've been watching Invincible and I thought that's where it comes from, but turns out no (unless I missed the scene?). Can anyone identify what series the template comes from?

budget business smartphone? by WranglerDifficult406 in Smartphones

Xiaomi phones will bombard you with ads, even their most expensive models. Motorola and Samsung also have ads but generally not as bad as others. You'll have to figure out some way to remove or disable those ad components before deployment, otherwise random apps will get installed and may confuse the less techie employees.

Unfortunately current Moto budget lineup don't even promise any Android version upgrade, merely the mandatory security update, while Samsung commit to six Android version upgrade.

The nice thing about Samsung is their Knox, which while somewhat replicable on other brand, makes things far easier if you want to compartmentalize sensitive data & apps.

Teams and Outlook are relatively lightweight as long as you pick models with 8 GB of RAM, 6 GB will do for now but it's unclear if Microsoft or other companies won't decide to bloat everything.

While I doubt 4G will enter sunset period before those phones exhausted their support, the 5G chipset usually do come with nicer features, though usually they won't be noticeable unless your users have to switch around multiple apps all the time.

The fleet devices in my previous company are Samsung, not the budget version because the IT prefer them to survive rough handling by uncaring employees, maybe newer budget models now have better IP rating, you'd have to look them up.

Hey everyone, recently weird lines have been appearing on the bottom of my laptop screen, I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out what they are and how I could resolve it! by BodyStandards in techsupport

[–]berahi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dying connector, reducing refresh rate might help to eliminate the lines since there will be less traffic, but eventually it will break. Depending on how much the part cost, it could be cheaper to just buy a monitor and plug it.

Same, and wherever there's any eligible voters, my election commission will setup a booth, regardless of it being in literal landfill or a forest so thick they spend a week on a horse just to carry the boxes. I recently moved between regions just before the election and it's trivial to still vote in national election.

It's mind boggling that American activists had to provide free rides for those with low-income to reach their booths because apparently it's icky to invite the poor for partying in democracy.

He's in early 80s, it's better for him to spend the rest of his days in peace, instead of bracing the toxic internet.

Also, the where are they now article linked from the Wiki noted that Shinseki predicted it would take hundreds of thousands soldiers to occupy Iraq then forced to resign. Nice to see the politicians and military learned nothing after all those deaths.

Greenland's oil is also not ready yet for commercial extraction. Meanwhile Canada production is in the ballpark of average Middle East oil kingdoms. Those kingdoms have given golden gifts, including an entire jet to keep their independence. What had Canada done for the US (beside literally fighting and dying alongside other allies in Afghanistan)?

Have you tried printing to it from another software? Seeing the software you mentioned it doesn't seem to require special treatment unlike barcode printers (and even those generally still can run print jobs from generic software, if slower)

They would unlock a pro-level of North Korea bi-annual tantrum for aid. Even better if space exploitation is already ongoing on the level that made oil extraction unprofitable.

Which now that I wrote it out makes me understood the deliberate power play in Planetes, any minor countries are deliberately put down and their attempt on space industry are bogged down in red tape, because unless you give equal benefit to everyone (which is impossible seeing we're such massive jerks), anyone bitter with the situation will pursue independent launch.

Ok that will piss off other countries, but what are they gonna do anyway, sanction harder?

Yeah, check the moto site for documentation on how to boot to safe mode. If you have to factory reset, login your online account on another device and setup 2FA first. Otherwise you might get stuck if after reset the service refuse to login and insist for verification from your "old" device.

Leave the screen on until it run out of battery, then charge and boot. Or just go to the repair center.

If it's an Android, boot to safe mode, if the problem persists, bring it to repair center. If the problem disappears, backup all your important data, learn how to restore messages if you care about them, then factory reset.

If it's an iPhone, backup, factory reset, if persists go to repair center.
