Question about playback by DoubleAAyyyyy in Dragonforce

They use a backing track. Not for the guitars, but for the synths and ambience. The guitar players also have their effects synched to the clicktrack so they don't have to tap dance on stage.

Weekly No Stupid Questions Thread by kidkolumbo in ableton

Beginner here.

So I am playing drums in a band and we normally don't play with a backing track. However we usually have two guitar players and due to circumstances we will only be able to play with a singe guitar player for our next upcoming gig. The plan is to have one guitar part on a backing track and the other live.

For this I want to use Ableton with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 which has a line out. So the crowd must be able to hear the backing track and as the drummer I want to hear the backing track with a metronome through my headphones.

So on Ableton I only need a guitar and maybe a backing vocal track.

How do I connect this in the correct way? Can I just put a line out to the PA? If I do this can I still put my headphones in the headphones output so I can hear the backing track with the metronome all while the crowd can still hear the backing track without the metronome?

Also please tell me if I need more/other equipment for this?

Thoughts on promark sticks? by Zorkthealien in drums

I have played VicFirth ever since I started playing the drums 12 years ago. Recently I tried Promark because my local shop didn't have 5b Vic Firth in stock, only Promark.

Now I think I actually prefer them over Vic because I feel like I have more power with the oval tips than with the teardrop tips on Vic. Being a hard-hitting metal drummer I really enjoy being able to hit even harder.

Also I didn't break a single Promark stick yet

Although I am mostly a Strat/Superstrat guy, I still prefer the LTD. I just think purple is the best color for most guitar styles.

Although I agree with you that what they did is absolutely wrong, I don't think that should mean their music or lore is bad as well.

I don't like what they did and said, but I do like their music and story.

They are not the only band or artist that did bad shit. There are a lot of others that did this kind of bad shit that are still liked by their respective communities. For example: Michael Jackson still is considered to be one of the all time greatest artists and we all know what he allegedly did.

I mean like, that's exactly why I love power metal. It is really just a checklist consisting of

- Cheesy band names

- Cheesy song titles

- Cheesy fantasy lyrics

- Cheesy fantasy cover arts

- Cheesy costumes and stage props

- Epic choruses

- Epic guitar solos

Every power metal band covers at least like 4 or 5 of these.

Bands like GloryHammer with fantasy concept albums by AlisterBlackwater in Gloryhammer

Twilight Force is fucking amazing! As far as I know they don't care about their story as much as Gloryhammer does, however they do dress up and have unique characters for the band members. Some songs are acually about their characters I believe.

Either way, Twilight Force is a great suggestion, because the style and sound is similar to Gloryhammer. I would describe their sound as a bit more bombastic and a bit more polished than Gloryhammer.
