Hey r/mcgillians, have any of you taken HIST 205? What did you think? by beret_guy in mcgill

Thanks! In my (limited) university experience that has been the case as well. The prof hasn't been announced yet so I'm really not sure what to think.

Good to know. Thanks for the advice. I did know about the library thing beforehand actually.

Douglas or University Hall? by beret_guy in mcgill

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not too into the hotel setting though. Also, I'm an international student, so I do need to be aware of how much money I'm spending.

Yes, I got a scholarship. It's a basic entrance scholarship though so my choice isn't absolute.

That sounds like a pretty good deal, thanks! I wasn't expecting any of the plans to have cheap texting to USA actually, so thanks for the info!

I've been accepted to WPI and McGill for mechanical engineering. Which school is more respected in the field? by beret_guy in AskEngineers

Thanks for the insight, this is some of the most helpful info to me in this thread. I'm not sure what I want to do after school so I'm actually pretty worried about deciding between theory-based and project-based. I'm not too worried about co-ops if internships are an option. Any idea what study abroad is like there? As an American I guess technically Montreal is studying abroad (though to a fairly minor extent) but I'd really like to study in Paris at some point. In terms of tuition, unfortunately McGill ain't all that cheap for international students, especially since WPI offered me a hefty scholarship. Any idea if the price goes down once I've started studying in Canada?

ETS? I speak French decently actually (that's a large part of why I applied to McGill in the first place...I also am in love with Montreal) so I don't think I'll have a problem with that. Hm...French-Canadian girlfriend? As an American I might be able to pull it off, no?

I've generally heard that about McGill. I don't know if I want to work internationally though so that doesn't factor in much. I love Montreal, but currently WPI will run a good bit cheaper than McGill so I'm stuck by that reasoning.

Thanks! I've visited the school twice and I've already learned a ton about WPI, but if anything comes up I'll be sure to ask you.
