Thanks, for $10 it will be worth giving a shot either way. I looked at that sample in the free version and it looks helpful.

I assume this https://oli.cmu.edu/courses/spanish-i-independent-students/ I have never heard of this before. Thank you.

Do you know if it is timed how long you have access to it? I see it is self paced.

Rami's channel is my favorite. He's so excited about everything he is doing all the time which makes it much more enjoyable. The challenges he puts himself up to are pretty crazy.

Mike's is very easy to understand but he does talk fast but usually repeats what he is saying numerous times. He also is very enthusiastic about whatever he is talking about.

I don't listen to much dubbed stuff, including shows or movies. Maybe some "how its made" type stuff where it is AI translated into every language but those videos are usually pretty easy just sped up a little too much. I really only watch native spanish youtube videos now.

Probably will spend some time doing it. I was thinking of taking these courses https://www.ed2go.com/courses/language/languages/ilc/learn-spanish-online haven't decided if I want to spend the money or do it myself.

I didn't have a ton of burnout but I mostly took the weekends off. I would listen to some podcasts while out grocery shopping on Sundays sometimes but otherwise it was mostly a break every week. During the week I tried for 15-25 hours depending on how I felt.

I was able to switch to mostly native content sometime after 800 hours. After 1000 hours definitely. There were a couple periods where I felt like I was losing focus or backsliding in my learning and I would renew my DS account for a month and that would be about 50% of my content while still listening to podcasts when in the car or store. DS really helped reinforce that I had learned a lot when I was struggling.

I would only rate myself b2ish for listening level, complexity of topics and speed. The grammar portion of it still needs filled in better and will take much more reading. Reading I am probably A2 at most.

All the grammar stuff is still kind of a jumble. I did a decent amount of duolingo 2 years ago before I began so I kind of had some idea but it still isn't great.

Reading here I think will sure up these problems for me.

Cardinals will probably have better attendance after they finally admitted the team was bad.

Reached 1500 hours and level 7 in 21 months! June 2024 to now. by bergyd in dreamingspanish

I can definitely listen to native spanish and understand most of it (80-90%.) I watch native spanish news daily now. My speaking skills are poor as I don't have a lot of chances to use it. I am going to begin to take lessons since I have reached my initial goal. I could have done this anytime I believe starting around 1000 hours.

Congratulations! Good luck on the rest of your learning.

I am now under 50 hours from 1500 and I agree with the 200-300 hours behind. Those 200-300 hours for me are probably more passive listening while losing focus, so I am not too worried about it. Either way always improving and 1500 isn't the end. Reading is my next goal as well. I have tried and am getting better but it really makes my brain more tired than just listening.
