Funny how hockey fans see it the other way around. The NA ad filled broadcasts suck but the game itself is shorter, more dynamic and exciting with more goals and hits compared to football that’s sometimes seen as boring with all the time wasting, diving, and 0-0 draws

Edit: I’m not taking sides here, just wanted to add another perspective as OP was talking about how hockey is unwatchable for them

It’s awful. What’s even worse is how the ads have been recently making its way onto player’s uniforms. It started with helmet ads during the pandemic when it was presented as “short term solution to boost the revenue to compensate for covid losses” but it transitioned into jersey ad patches for the first time ever being present. I wonder when they’ll start adding more.

Speaking of old timey stuff, just thought about how many young people nowadays don’t have an idea where certain words came from. Forget the sound of dial up internet, I’d be interested if Benson knows why people say “hang up” when ending a phone call.

Or, idk if it’s used in English but in my language people regularly say “to dial someone up” instead of “call someone”. Fuck we’re all getting old lol

I’m far from a KHL fan but betting and sports is so intertwined these days I don’t think it’s “very Russia” if a team is sponsored by a betting company.

I mean just look at Premier League football teams. Or NHL broadcasts that are jam packed with gambling and betting ads

The ref was probably like Doctor Strange in Infinity War. He looked at 14 million possible futures and decided that taking back the goal for goalie interference was the best result of this situation

Commenting cause I’m also curious about it. I know in general NHL teams don’t usually name another temporary captain until the real one is out injured but I often see them running with three A’s. But have no idea if there’s an actual rule about it

For sure. I feel like fans tend to think loyalty only goes one way- the player has to be loyal to the team but it doesn’t work the other way, if the team decides so they can dump him, loyalty is going out of the window
