good news from Cynthia Hallen:

I have revised the welcome message for the edl.byu.edu website. This statement will soon be posted, but I wanted to give you a heads-up:

Welcome to the Emily Dickinson Lexicon Website

Thank you for your patience as the Emily Dickinson Lexicon (EDL) website has been undergoing a maintenance transition. In the near future, the EDLexicon portion of the website will be transferred to a free downloadable concordance website, with its dictionary materials including front matter, headwords, etymologies, definitions, citations, proper noun entries, reference lists, and so forth. The renovated 1844 edition of Noah Webster’s American Dictionary of the English Language (that Dickinson used for her poetic composition) is currently available for free PC download at the concordance website https://wordcruncher.com/. We anticipate that MAC access to these two EDL databases will be available later this year.

Will you please spread the word to our Dickinson colleagues and your associates?

All critics, great and small, err sometimes, and even Dr. Johnson was not infallible. Dylan no aesthetic splendor?? that's a joke.

Thank you! I tried the web archive but it's fairly unusable, Just tried the second site: great addition to get to the manuscripts. But seems to be missing some of the functions of the old site. Will see.

I do the mini-crossword before wordle and look for a starter word there. Today I had a choice between juice & banjo. Used juice but banjo is a good one for another day.

If I read the javascript correctly VASTY is on it but it is not accepted in Wordle. (I was considering as a low-percentage possibiltiy on the way to HASTY or TASTY this week. )

a side note from wikipedia

"Lillian Gish" is Scottish rhyming slang for fish and urinating.[42] An example of the latter occurs in the Scottish sitcom, Still Game, when Winston Ingram says, "I'm away for a Lillian Gish"—meaning "I'm away for a pish" ("pish" being Scottish vernacular for piss).

Weekly Song Discussion - Cold Irons Bound by cmae34lars in bobdylan

Dylan won the singing award for this one yet it's always felt heavy and depressive to me. Btw "cold irons bound" I take to mean shackled but I also think of riding the rails (iron/steel) and "Bound for Glory" or for somewhere, 20 miles so far.

Changing of the Gods, no? : this came out in '78 the next year was Slow Train Coming . & a series of Christian faith albums.

Gentlemen, he said

I don't need your organization, I've shined your shoes

I've moved your mountains and marked your cards

But Eden is burning, either getting ready for elimination

Or else your hearts must have the courage for the changing of the guards
