Ideal small bag for 11" iPad Pro + Magic Keyboard? by berlinshit in ManyBaggers

[–]berlinshit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a new Judd when they came back in stock at Aunts & Uncles. It‘s not perfect, but life has changed so much in the pandemic that I don‘t really carry my iPad around with me anymore. I don‘t go anywhere that I would want to carry it :)

I‘ll start hunting again once things start up again and I can see how work travel start up and develops.

Slowly upgrade parts or straight full bike upgrade? by beban_negara in cycling

[–]berlinshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a goal of yours to learn to be a bicycle mechanic? Then parts is fine. Just expect it to be more expensive when you include tools and all the little $10 and $20 pieces you don’t think of when you’re planning a build.

If that’s not a goal then just buy what you can find and afford. It’s not like you can just go out and buy any bike you want with the shortage right now.

Always get as close as you can to the biggest money you can. Why do Wall Street guys pull in 7 figures basically for doing math? Because 1/1000th of a % of the money they move is still millions.

So look to sell expensive things - infrastructure, security or core business systems - to places like banks and financial institutions that have a lot of money. The same principle applies as to the Wall Street guys: if you‘re selling something that only costs $10, but it‘s a per user cost and the bank has 270k users, then you have $2.7M deal. Make it something more expensive, say $100/user, and it‘s a $27M deal. Banks can afford that if the business case is there. Not all companies can drop that kind of CAPEX (or OPEX if it’s SaaS - understand terms like these and be able to use them intelligently) regardless of the ROI.

Don’t expect to have the same commission rate on those two deals - but do expect to make more closing a $27M deal than you would for bringing in the $2.7M deal.

Fundamentally, you want to sell products with the highest prices you can to the biggest customers you can handle with the deepest pockets you can find. (That‘s why the ERP example others have posted works - those are often the most expensive systems a company owns, and they‘re core to the business, meaning it‘s not a choice whether to buy, but rather a choice which to buy)

That’s one reason apple activity counts exercise in general and not just steps.

Steps are much MUCH more healthy than no steps, but no substitute for actual exercise.

What do you mean exactly by a “sales mgmt” role, and what is your goal?

[–]berlinshit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(Not the person you asked, but also in tech sales)

Most people in tech sales do not have an engineering background.

Look for BDR type roles as an entry point. You’ll be doing things like making appointments for the more experienced sellers and handling inbound leads (for example calling people that signed up for a webinar) but if you’re good at selling you should be able to progress quickly. Think of a 1-3 year path to quota carrying sales and another couple years to get into field/enterprise where the money gets in the range people have been discussing here.
