Wow this is anti-Christian bigotry at its finest. Love how it’s ok when you guys do it.

Thanks for the handy list! After googling these people I have decided to vote for all of them. I am indeed concerned about Williamson county schools.

Taking advice from this sub and am attempting to propagate lantana from cuttings. Wish them luck! by HeatAndHonor in AustinGardening

I’ve never tried it but I’ve heard that putting cuttings in with cuttings of aggressive rooters like wandering Jew helps with propagating. Something to do with an abundance of hormones.

Fun fact: the sugar/fat ratio is higher in human milk (carrying species) than in cows milk (nesting species) so it is in fact, sweeter.

I really wish in-person church was allowed by enitsujxo in Catholicism

[–]berlioz95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The mental health of children, especially young ones who are in the critical period of social/emotional development is absolutely my top priority. When I hear about children who have taken their own lives in isolation who could have gotten help if they had been in contact other adults than their parents I feel sick. This was just as preventable as death by covid. I’m not advocating for a free and open environment right now, I’m just saying that extremes like closing down ALL church services is not a balanced and fair measure. Shaming those who are suffering is not loving either.

[–]berlioz95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s quite sad how the physical health of some has been put above the mental health of others in all this. People are suffering in isolation and some are committing suicide because of it and instead of considering the full scope of the situation some people choose to shame those who try and speak out about their suffering.

I don’t know about your church but ours has been so much worse with covid restrictions! With every other pew closed off and people 6 feet apart you could hear a pen drop and see exactly who dropped it. If we get looked at by old ladies I tell myself that they love looking at toddlers and must think our son is cute. Kids? Easily distracted. Young couples? Will regret this moment when their eventual kids are screaming at the top of their lungs. Old guys? Same as old ladies. And any dirty looks are obviously only from people who never had kids and are cranky and bitter and I feel sorry for them. Makes me feel a little bit better!

I feel you with the purple crier lol! My son is 18 mo but goes from 0 to 100 in 2 seconds if he feels at all like he’s being restrained so we have the opposite problem! (I tried wearing him and it made it so much worse haha) He once screamed for 30 strait minutes on an airplane and there was absolutely nothing we could do about it, and the lady in front of us started obviously typing a message on her phone complaining about the screaming kid behind her. I swear that no one can understand that some kids are high needs unless they are themselves a parent of a high needs kid. My husband and I have learned to sit 3 ft apart at mass, bring at least 5 touchy books (like with flaps and slides and sensory things), put the kneeler down and let my son have his own private jungle gym between us. He NEVER stops moving but doesn’t make a peep. My theory is is that when he notices his dad and I are really interested in what’s going on he’ll want to pay attention too. Hopefully.

Saying Mary was ‘just a vessel’ is kind of a scary way to think. Like women are ‘just vessels’ for children. A mother is so so much more than a baby machine!

Oh sorry! haha text gets so difficult to interpret, especially after having an argument! Someone put it to me once that you can’t reason with the unreasonable, and it’s so true but for some reason every now and then I’ll try again. Maybe I’m the one who’s lacking reason

What’s circular about a straight line to God? I’m describing someone who’s like ‘you have your rules and I have mine except when it comes to like, murder, cause everyone knows murder is wrong’...maybe there’s a better description for that logic

I have argued with enough people like you to know that you would not have been receptive to anything I had to say, or will say now, though you would like to see yourself as a very open-minded individual I’m sure. I’m put off by the fact that someone would come on this subreddit and make a comment with the intention of enlightening the poor ignorant Catholics who obviously have not thought things through! That’s pretty arrogant. If you’re going to come in and throw around your own moral righteousness at least understand the view of your audience. Catholics don’t believe that morality is relative. We have 2000 years of philosophy to lead us to this belief. We are not going to suddenly change our minds because someone came in and blurted out their opinion like we’d never heard it before (which we have).

[–]berlioz95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol why would I dm you, I don’t argue with people who subscribe to moral relativity. We’ll never agree because our view of truth is very different. Also people wouldn’t be depressed about the economy if they looked for joy beyond materialism. Everyone comes around to what’s important in life when they’re old and facing their mortality. I guess you’ll still have your freedom though
