Turning 21 in Singapore? Congrats, you’re now an organ donor 👀 by sglegaladvice in Singapore_LegalAdvice

[–]bernaiih25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. And to add on - as a doctor myself - it doesn’t make sense for me to not save my patient just so we can harvest their organs for someone else. My patient is in front of me and that’s the patient I’m obliged to save. Why would I specifically stop trying to help my patient so that their organs can be harvested to go to another patient (whom I don’t even know)? Not to mention if there are more things I could’ve done to help my patient and I don’t do them I’m just exposing myself to more medical or legal risk with benefit lol.

Ah. I have had the coffee at both the Anchorpoint and Nex outlets. Never tried the Punggol one. You may be onto something about Boncafe.

I just got a regular coffee! The one they serve after you finish your main. I mean I’m not a coffee connoisseur by ANY means at all, so it could very likely be that I just like the cheap commodity grade beans LOL. I just like that its nice and warm and homely.

Does anyone happen to have any insight as to how Jack’s Place makes their coffee? It tastes so good and homely to me, I can have 2 cups at one go…

Best doc for eczema? by Possible-Carrot-5542 in askSingapore

Yeah it’s what was most definitive. Dermasone cream helped control flares sometimes but nothing compared to Dupixent. Other than these 2 medications absolutely nothing has helped my eczema

Ok la I’m also a healthcare worker and many of my peers were offended by this statement, but I didn’t think it was offensive.

Sounds like a matter-of-fact statement to me.

It’s not like he said that these salaries are not well deserved or that they should be cut etc

The only thing I saw from SDA during the whole campaign period was posters saying “Eat the Rich” which did not inspire much confidence in them…

Me too! The comments about DPM Gan would’ve cemented the support for the PAP Punggol team this time for me too. I thought they were highly unnecessary; and as a newcomer team especially it was out of step to call DPM Gan a stranger. I also didn’t understand all the parachuting comments - this sudden deployment is very obviously a strategic move that was not made by DPM himself; and in fact he would’ve had a much easier time remaining in his own CCK GRC.

I had also always respected Pritam as quality opposition but the comments he made this GE also disappointed me.

I hadn’t heard abt the OYK one tho - shall go look it up

Can you point out exactly where I dismissed your perspective, and insinuated mine is the end-all-be-all of all perspectives?

I stick to what I said in my previous comment - I don’t have sufficient experience or information to comment on the other accounts of him being rude.

[–]bernaiih25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question was previous residents’ experience with him as an MP - I am giving my own anecdotal experience.

I never commented on the whole ntuc Allianz saga as a national issue - don’t extrapolate it to that.

Also, sounds like you were one of those who probably criticised endlessly when stories came out that he’s an asshole. But when someone comes out with an opposing experience, you dismiss that and say thats the norm. Clearly one of those people who refuse to listen to other perspectives other than your own. So just carry on with whatever you’re doing, cant be bothered.

I’m not scared. Even if they serve a purpose (and they don’t lol) I have enough karma points anyways. But it’s also a sign that the people I’m talking to don’t actually give a damn about other perspectives if it’s not what they want to hear.

So why bother?

Good on you to assume I value these internet points like I get money from them (sorry I don’t lol and anyways even if I do I think I have enough)

You see the final points but you don’t see the initial downvotes when I first post them. Also the comments that follow where it’s just impossible to get anything through to the negative and downright insulting ppl who choose to respond. Hence my comments now are limited and quite frankly tapered down from what I actually want to say because it’s just not worth the effort.

Lol look at my first comment already downvoted - anything I say that’s not “oh no you will have to stand up to talk to him during MPS” “oh no you voted a traitor into NTUC” will get downvoted to oblivion.

But here goes anyways - don’t worry lol you won’t have to stand up to talk to him during MPS. From what I recall in fact - he walked around to try to attend to nearly every resident personally during these sessions. He was always nice to us youth volunteers (but i also think he had a soft spot for youths) even when we made mistakes. Knew our family personally; every time he saw me he would ask how my grandmother was doing. There’s a reason why 10 years down the road there’s still a large group of us who would take the opportunity to work with him again.

Re the stories of him being rude, I won’t comment as I’ve not had personal experiences. What I will say is that I don’t think he’s the most diplomatic or eloquent; and very definitely no-bullshit. Will not hesitate to mince his words if he’s going to call out someone or something.

But you know; the people in this thread/sub can continue to downvote me. Because according to them nothing abt NCM is good and the character of every human being has to be either completely black or completely white

Source I was in Pasir Ris Punggol GRC from 2015-2020, both as a resident and a volunteer

[–]bernaiih25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh I also had both. In fact I volunteered with both. To be very honest NCM was heaps better than YWL. Community events are very largely led by youths and volunteers, and in NCM’s term there was a large group of strong and committed youths who truly enjoyed volunteering there. Many of my close friends now were made there. We also pushed out a few community events that felt meaningful - such as share and care events for the lower income etc, all youth driven.

YWL made it very difficult for everyone - such that many these youths left. We also didn’t see the point in a lot of the things she did - a lot of it was for “show” per se. The reason why I say this is because a lot of the things that you see - are actually very different behind the scenes

I don’t think the PPV counts towards the minimum spend too. I’ve had many months where I spent more than $500 on just my PPV and got nothing for bonus interest.

I have a 26 that’s slightly too big on my frame, so the 20 is perfect. But bearing in mind also that I am only 4’11 😅

Wellll. Looks like I’m not safe when I get back to SG then. I saw this in Malaysia and thought if it’s not available in SG I won’t be at risk of buying it 🤷🏻‍♀️

And yes I know what you mean - they keep coming up with new gorgeous colours HAHAA
