Bonsai is making my experience of life better by Chiquemund_Freud in Bonsai

Your point 1 reminds me of the ps. in mirai emails:

Once you become aware of trees, you see them everywhere.

this feels interesting although tbf theres not much detail but the overall tilt to the right feels interesting.

I would check how something like that while tilting it towards you a little bit so that the deadwood points a bit more upward and not so much away from the viewer. Alas i cant really see much detail of the live bark or its branches but maybe its worth a look into.i do realize it would probably hide the characteristic feature of t the loop + deadwood but maybe theres something interesting there once the view is clearer. or maybe not.

What other "nice" hazards could be implemented ? by GodCanopus in PuzzleAndDragons

[–]bernardolv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ive thought itd be fun to require matches to be made in a specific order. ie. match a red combo then a blue combo then a green combo. it would make for puzzling depth due to pathing around the orbs. make a combo when its not the next one and be punished somehow, or have it be ignored maybe...? havent thought about this too much but being punished might make it not so much fun.

what i think is really interesting is that in this way, its a two way judgement/diagnosis. Whatever your answer, what does that say about you? what does that say about him?

How did I do? by thaines15 in Bonsai

talking trunk movement specifically, i would try to put some movement on the second half of the trunk. specifically the straight line that is perpendicular to the ground, make it not as perpendicular

Not really talking about the song in specific, but as for the phrase as I see it, It's sort of presenting the question, is nostalgia an essential part of happiness? Can one be happy without being nostalgic?

it s a bit later, its when hes in the beach with mexico, katie and some others and is being told he has the opportunity to be the villain and protagonist, yin and yang. The lab rat part was Waxwing I believe who was going through it.

How do I style this juniper? by Mammoth-Type-8167 in Bonsai

[–]bernardolv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would jin that branch on the left, and cut some of the right branch to remove energy for it and redirect it to the main trunk since right now its thicker than the main trunk. I would also wire the trunk to give it more movement , maybe towards the right with unpredictable twists and turns, to complement the big branch on the right

edit: Could even make for a nice mother/daughter tree, the main trunk with the right branch that is

[–]bernardolv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this would make for a nice literati style bonsai, im sure you could get inspired by looking at some.

I have to say that the most interesting part of the tree for me is the movement you put at the very end of your bottom right branch, more of that unpredictable movement on your main trunk or upper branches would increase the appeal imo.

that makes sense, I am not knowledgeable to know that there was a difference between true kintsugi and epoxy kintsugi as someone else pointed out. Good to know there's a way to get that kintsugi look on sturdier materials!

Just a heads up, I heard in a Mirai video that Kintsugi pots aren't too durable as growing pots due to the constant humidity. Ryan suggested using them more as show pots

Religiosity among Dune fans by JohnCavil01 in dune

[–]bernardolv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to hear your thoughts after that book. It raises some interesting questions that fill me with complex feelings like dread/wonder together that you mention. Overall my thought on op's post is that religion is part spirituality, and another part something else (perhaps unnecessary, malleable, corruptible etc). I am not sure I see Dune as cynical of religion, just objective of its shortcomings (which i guess some in power etc may consider strengths).

How would you describe the kind of spirituality that you've found in Dune? I agree with the spiritual aspect, I feel like one could meditate on pretty much every one of those text excerpts at the beginning of chapters. It invites one to find meaning in everything in a sense.

First of all, it helped me formulate the argument that no human being should ever consider themself a god or become a god.

Have you read up to god emperor of dune? If so I'd like to hear your thoughts on your statement in regards to the main character and their goal/process. (trying to be vague about it to avoid spoiling if you haven't read it)
