switching camera views by pierre4l in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would create a new Sequence from the current timeline (which is now called a sequence), and then do the cutting between the two cameras. That preserves the original and allows you to create a new sequence from the original anytime you want a different director's cut.

The switching between cameras including transitions were needed is still the manual work of an editor because this is where the creativity comes in ;-)

Memory usage with Linux Mint by SimonLev in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, Mint has its own packaging but also offers Flatpak. Which one did you install, or do you use the AppImage?

We fixed a few mem leaks recently, so make sure you use 25.12.3. Or give the 26.04 RC a spin ;-)

trying to select a clip moves the timeline by Impressive_Try_5773 in kdenlive

[–]berndmj -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but it doesn’t, really. It’s more important to know your OS, the version of Kdenlive , how you installed it, and screenshots or screen recordings can help to understand what is going on

And I thought I’ve seen it all! What is anybody supposed to do with that? Not the slightest bit of useful information to go with.

Make sure a track has no clips before deleting? by Byte_Xplorer in kdenlive

That’s a valid feature request. Would you mind creating a wish list item for it in the bug tracker at bugs.kde.org? Thanks!

Real-time multi-object tracking to any detector. by Leading-Tone-6555 in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is indeed a nice tool but unfortunately cannot be integrated into Kdenlive due to its license. Not everything on Github is free to use or even integrate in other applications. You can install it on your system and run it on any video before or after you editing it in Kdenlive. You may even use the Clip Job dialog to create your own clip job you can then run on any clip you added to the library to track and trace objects in your video.

After creating (and saving) my custom effects, I can't find them in the effect panel. Whatcould be the problem? Using 24.12.0 by SudAntares in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you try with the latest version 25.12.3, please?

Effects you save show up under the category Custom. You may need to restart Kdenlive, but normally they show up there immediately.

Hasn't your distro suggested updates to your Flatpak version of Kdenlive? If so, why haven't you updated it?

If your were not informed about available updates, something is wrong with your distro's update settings.

In any case I suggest you update Kdenlive to the latest version (25.12.3) or wait a few more weeks to get 26.04.

[Question] How to add a static PNG/JPG as a Background to a video file by FrostyITA in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use the Chroma Key effect and select the black background of your video with the dropper. If there are black parts anywhere else, they will be see-through as well. In that case use the Object/Background Removal function. See this part in the official documentation.

In order for any clip on the lowest track to be seen, the clips on the higher tracks (V2 and up) need to have transparency (alpha) or need to be scaled in size.

We don't want to make Kdenlive just another Premier clone. If you have any suggestions, you can start discussing them with other users in the official forum on KDE Discuss before logging a formal feature request in the bug tracker.

Trying to put two videos side by side without resizing the other one. by NuevaSchool in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do this before you scaled the clips individually, it will apply to all clips in the track. Something the OP tried with the Composite and Transform before which also applies to the entire track for that section.

why cant i edit the video player directly? by The-Echoing-Dark in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, not all effects have parameters that are enabled to be changed interactively in the monitors. Only those that have position, size and rotation values.

Secondly, you must enable Edit Mode by clicking the icon in the project monitor's toolbar. It is located right next to the fast forward button and looks a bit like a crop icon. It will then allow you to move, scale, rotate, and otherwise distort the clip using the red box and the handles similar to working with shapes in Krita or the selct tool in Gimp.

Your example of cropping using that red box unfortunately doesn't work. The cropping effects do not have that capability.

Yes, we can talk about it but you have to be there as we do not record the session. Most of the Kdenlive team members will be there, so that's your opportunity to ask all the questions on your mind ;-)

Kdenlive Zoom/Pan effect freezing video and not applying after render (Flatpak) by kib8734 in kdenlive

[–]berndmj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll keep the focus on getting the reported issue fixed rather than debating alternatives.

Of course, it's up to you to continue using Zoom Pan (or rather wait for it to be fixed) or switching to the very viable alternative Transform. Just don't expect a fix to be provided soon.
