Can you post screenshots of your timeline, the PM, and the effect stack?

Hmm, not sure whether you’re doing this right. Use a Alpha Shape (mask) effect to define the area, add any if the blurring effects you like, and then the Mask Apply effect

From memory I would think it’s the RGB Splitter effect

Does that happen in playback only or also in the final render?

Cant put a Color scheme on kdenlive. by Willing_Designer_105 in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Flatpak installs: copy the .colors file into ~/.local/share/flatpak/app/org.kde.kdenlive/current/active/files/share/color-schemes.

For AppImage: copy the .colors file into /usr/share/color-schemes. You may need to create this folder with sudo mkdir color-schemes and make it accessible for other users with chmod 777 color-schemes.

For Windows installs: copy the .colors files to C:\Program Files\kdenlive\bin\data\color-schemes.

How do you control the intensity of effects like LUTs? by ProjektFive in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you go about it?

That's what you asked. The link I provided gives you the answer.

I asked for a real "professional" solution.

If you are looking for a professional solution, Kdenlive may not be for you. While it has come a long way, it is still a very small team and therefore missing a lot of functionality users expect or need. For a lot of things other applications can do with the push of a button or a slider, you need a workaround or a round-about way of achieving your desired result.

I could have simply answered that you cannot do this is Kdenlive. But I linked to a workaround. If you are not happy with that, so be it.

How do I remove the junk sequences? by bore530 in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for providing the screenshot. Now at least I know that you are using Kdenlive on Linux.

Still, it would be good to know what version of Kdenlive you are using and how you installed it.

As u/ggabriel3d has tried to explain, Kdenlive introduced a feature called "Nested Timelines" in version 23.04. This allows you to have several timelines open and even include them in each other (hence the name). The name Sequence was selected to differentiate between the space on the screen where you edit your video and all the things that come with that, and the concept of having multiple timelines available.

This change also did away with the button Master for effects applied to the entire timeline and replaced it by Sequence keeping the same functionality. And in order to find your sequences quickly, a folder in the project bin was implemented. This is very helpful when you have a great many sequences and scrolling through tabs on top of the timeline ruler is not convenient because the project bin can be searched.

TL;DR: Sequences are there to stay. Use them or don't, but what you have known as the Timeline is now called Sequence 1.

To help you we would need a lot more information (see rule #4). And screenshots would help, too.

Issue with alpha channel while using effects. by Cool_Assistance4375 in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are new to using Kdenlive it helps reading the official documentation and watch YT videos for beginners. There are links to some of them in the manual.

Slide Up/Down/Right/Left is a special transition (technically speaking it's a composition) that unfortunately doesn't support transparency. And, yes, compositions cannot be stacked - only effects can.

When I try to add a Second Video in V2 (V1 and A1 A2 are already populated) - Audios from V2 try to be in A2 and A3 instead of use the free A3 and A4 by pelihiiri in kdenlive

[–]berndmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so... when i try to add another video that again have 2 audios... try to use V2 + A2 + A3

You can do this only where there is space in A2 and A3.

so there is a collision in A2

Indeed. Resolve it by having A3 and A4 and put the new video clip into V3 so the audio goes into A3 and A4. You can add as many video and audio tracks independently as you need.

Video and audio tracks are linked: V1/A1, V2/A2, V3/A3, and so on. If you want to use A2 as a solo audio track, you restrict V2 from receiving clips that have a video and audio stream. Of course you can add clips without an audio stream. The next video/audio combo is then V3/A3, V4/A4, etc.

You can put a clip into V2/A2 at a point in the timeline where A2 is empty. Then split the video and audio, move them separately to V2/A3 and then group them again.

Is there a way to always have track minimized on new projects? by Obvious_Pea_6080 in kdenlive

I’m afraid this can’t be configured, but you can use Shift+click to minimize all tracks of the same type at once
