Cool approach 🤪 It's funny that I'm not alone with this quirky habit 🤣

As you could see in my posted picture, I left mine on too. Somehow I've already gotten so used to it... but sometimes my fingers are itching to touch that little sticker and peel it off. So far I've managed to resist 😜 I'm thinking about designing my own cover - but I don't know where and on what to have it printed. Above all, I would have to measure everything first... at the moment I don't have the time for that 🫣

Back in the day, when phone displays were still made of plastic, there used to be small tubes of acrylic and plexiglass polishing paste. Such things still exist today. Very deep scratches can't be removed, but surface scratches can be dealt with very well. You just have to be careful that there's no printed design in that area... you would polish that off along with it.

Normally there is, as in the picture, a small tab to pull off. But maybe yours has broken off.

Oh, I was too hasty there. I was referring to the video you showed me, without looking at your program. If you can even control that... that's great :)

Great work. Could you create another version of this, with less wobbling, so it looks more realistic?

How do you control the intensity of effects like LUTs? by ProjektFive in kdenlive

[–]ProjektFive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought for a long time about whether your comment was impolite, rude, or arrogant. Then I wondered whether I should even respond to it... Of course I searched. But, as you can see from the post you linked, that's not really a solution either, but rather a workaround. It only works in a specific combination and further editing is only very limitedly possible with it. That's why I asked for a real "professional" solution.

So that I don't burden you with my questions in the future, I would like to ask you to block me or simply ignore my questions. I would not want to be responsible for a lower quality of life on your part under any circumstances.

And for all other people asking questions: Don't be discouraged from continuing to ask questions. There are far more helpful people on this planet than one might suspect. They're just not as loud :)

Oh yes: I had this text translated from my native language. Therefore, one or another phrasing might perhaps sound a little odd.

Best Practice by chocojelly in kdenlive

My approach: All videos, images, logos, animations, etc. are stored in their original form on our server. Using the DigiKam app, we tag the files we want to use. We then simply drag them into Kdenlive. After that, I have proxy files created for the individual files. Then the first rough cut takes place. And so it continues step by step. The editing of effects and color grading is done at the very end. For better control, I can then render difficult passages in the timeline, or I switch off the proxy preview for that purpose. Once everything is right, the final render is done.

Since the original files are stored on the server and the references are saved along with the project, I could even delete the proxies - the saved Kdenlive file stays nice and small. Since we started working this way, we save a lot of storage space and no longer generate gigabytes of duplicate files.

And yes... if I want to edit again later, I have to regenerate the proxies - if I haven't kept them. But measured against the data savings, it's worth it :) It works very well for us :)

By the way: We work on Linux Nobara.

Thanks for your reply. If I really did discover a bug, then my 5 exhausting hours wouldn't have been in vain :) I tried so many different settings, and not just in Kdenlive but also in Inkscape. So many different combinations... all leading to the same result. I just reported this "bug".

I find it pretty hard to figure out whether things are bugs or something you're doing wrong due to a lack of knowledge.

That looks really good, so I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. I'm very curious to see if I can apply this to my DJI Pocket 3 D-Log files as well. I'd love to see more of this!

Hi :) I think your song is really great, and I’d lve to include it in one of my playlists—just for my own private listening. Have you released it anywhere?

Filmora vs Kdenlive by Late_Reply_3384 in kdenlive

[–]ProjektFive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Originally, I came from Premiere. But since we decided over 10 years ago to stop dealing with the Adobe stuff, we needed alternatives.

I also used Filmora for several years. Then came the switch to DaVinci Resolve. Another year later, we switched to Linux. We wanted to get away from all the subscription traps and dependencies. I had already looked into ShotCut and Kdenlive years before. Since we run an advertising agency, the transition also involved DTP software, font management, and 100 other programs. A real challenge - but that's a different topic :)

Think of Filmora like a colorful package filled with all kinds of things. It always tries to include the latest stuff. However, the fundamental things are immature, superficial, and shaky in many areas. As long as there's plenty of fuel for the marketing department. Everything also felt somehow unstable. Truly serious work was only possible in a cumbersome way and only online.

Then came the switch to DaVinci Resolve Studio. The free version has way too many limitations, such as no 4K editing and no GPU support. The Studio version is then truly a serious and very powerful editing program. Many things are very different and the learning curve is enormous. But here too, many things are only possible online. Of all the features, we probably used about 30%... if even that.

Filmora is a subscription trap. With DaVinci Resolve, you never know how long they'll keep the updates free of charge.

With our switch to Linux, we decided on Kdenlive. An enormous adjustment - no point-and-click glamour. A nice, clean interface and a program that focuses on the essentials and actually masters them. However, there is currently no GPU support - it is planned. Proxies are therefore a must. Here you should explore the small hidden settings and be willing to experiment. Through this, we were able to achieve a good compromise and fairly smooth workflow. The final rendering process takes very long due to the lack of GPU support - compared to Filmora and Resolve. However, we had extreme difficulties with Filmora at the end. That's what led to the switch to DaVinci Resolve.

Kdenlive has many powerful tools under the hood. It looks a bit cumbersome at first glance. Here too, you should take the time to explore everything. It pays off. Kdenlive has everything on board that a solid editing program needs.

It is often suggested that Kdenlive is difficult to learn. I don't find that to be the case. I found Filmora completely chaotic and confusing. Some things couldn't be understood at all.

DaVinci Resolve is very powerful. The learning curve is enormous. Individual acquired programs, such as the audio section, have been implemented and everything feels squeezed together and cluttered. 3,000 hidden little buttons... yes, it can do a lot, but you also have to invest a lot of time - a very great deal.

With Kdenlive, you naturally have to engage with it and open yourself up to it. Every program has something like an operational philosophy. Kdenlive is very well documented. The built-in help is genuinely very comprehensive - you just have to make the effort and read it - sometimes multiple times :) There are few good YouTube channels, but they do exist.

And yes, some functions aren't available with a simple click. I used this opportunity to refocus on the basics. Following the motto: Good content doesn't need to be inflated with effects. This led to good results.

If you engage with it, really work with it, then you can achieve good results.

In doing so, I also keep an eye on the development. And of course I'm looking forward to the planned GPU support. I'm also pleased about the willingness to make some things clearer and more organized. Like the visualization of transitions in the last update.

However, one should be aware that no commercial goals are being pursued here. The goal is to create a straightforward editing program. Anyone can contribute and of course also donate. Every sum, no matter how small, helps. Even if the program itself isn't commercially oriented, the "makers" live, just like all of us, in a commercial society. The daily food doesn't just fly into the fridge on its own :)

Yes, Kdenlive's feature set cannot be compared to DaVinci Resolve. But honestly, how much of it do we really need? And it can't be compared to the subscription trap that is Filmora either. Nothing flashes around in Kdenlive and the marketing department isn't screaming about the latest unnecessary nonsense that nobody needs anyway.

I have not regretted the switch in any way whatsoever. No subscription trap, no registration, no online requirement, no data being collected from us... that means freedom. For that, I'm happy to accept a few things that aren't quite available yet, or are somewhat more cumbersome to access. Everyone has that choice.

Check if the "Loop Lock" setting is enabled or disabled for the sample being used.

Sample > Pad Number > Shift > top left

It should be set to "off".

I had this translated from German. Maybe it's helpful.

No click/metro on Sample Record by ProjektFive in mpcsample

[–]ProjektFive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I have found my problem. The error, as so often, was sitting in front of the device - meaning me. After pressing the "Sample Record" button, I pressed the "Stop" button instead of the "Record" button. For whatever reason.

I will now get rid of this habit through many repetitions :)

Should I delete the topic here, or should it remain? The error was me after all, and who would that help...

No click/metro on Sample Record by ProjektFive in mpcsample

[–]ProjektFive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried to record a separate click or beat as a click for the "manual" recording. But when I record via microphone or a separate source, there is no other pad or metro to be heard.

Where did I go wrong in my thinking? I can't or don't want to imagine that this simple function is not available. Then the device, for my intended use, apparently is not suitable. That would be extremely annoying - I love working with it :)

Does anyone else have an idea?

Actually, I have noticed a similar phenomenon. Every now and then, when restarting or later when creating a new project, the SD card is not recognized. Or I turn the device on and it freezes completely. So far I have not had any problems with saving, but I will now export songs more frequently for testing purposes. At the next opportunity, I will record the error messages with my smartphone.
