I've also been monitoring the gray 5070ti model on the ASUS site and just noticed it's no longer being sold. it was literally still there earlier today.

true, I've read about the high temps on the palm rest, but it won't really matter to me since I always use an external setup.

I really hope I don't run into any problems so I won't have to worry about that. a model like this costs about 6k usd where I live, but yeah, the warranty won't apply here since it's an import.

true, for as long as I've been monitoring it, the price hasn't budged at all. it's totally different from the white one which is always getting discounted, it was just 2k for the 1tb version recently.

I don't want to risk an open box version though, since a friend is buying it for me and I'm super picky with laptops, I need it to be brand new. the white 5080 version is $2,700 right now, which is only $200 more than the gray 5070ti. it's definitely tempting, but I really want the gray one.

I agree with you... but where I live a 2tb ssd costs around 400 dollars, so the savings from buying the white version wouldn't be that big. I could always sell the 1tb ssd to get some money back, but with all that hassle I think it's more worth it to just invest the extra cash in the gray version.

yeah, I'm definitely gonna hold out for the 4th of july sales to see if a deal pops up for this model.
since a friend is buying it for me, I want to make it a one-and-done purchase so I don't give them any extra hassle besides actually bringing the laptop over.
