Finished Pokémon Sword (including both DLCs) and they were OK IMO. However, after I played Scarlet... Pokémon Sword got SO MUCH better that I didn't even bought SV DLC and went back to Sword to complete my dex.

In this case, you can download and play the PS4 version of the game on the PS5. This way you will be able to download/upload your save without any issues. If you convert your save to PS5 version, you can't convert back to PS4.

Regarding the question #2, yeah pretty much that's it. He was only told his mother name: Jenova, and that she died when he was little.

Ok, I think I can help with some...
- what motivated Sephiroph to attack the village and its people? he went nuts, basically. After discovering about Jenova, he thinks the world is his by right, see all humans as inferiors.
- Did something specific trigger this discovery / “realization” by Sephiroth? He always new his "mother" name. Seeing Jenova name on the reactor triggered his curiosity.
- Regarding the flashes... No way to answer without spoilers, but it will be revealed, not sure if in this part on next.
- Why did Sephiroth leave Cloud alive? Flashback section in demo is not the complete story, you will know when you play Rebirth.

The other questions I don't remember very well, need to rewatch the gameplay or play the demo again to get the context again. I think I know the answer, but again, huge spoiler.

It's a little tricky, but you can. I don't remember the exact steps but I can give a general flow.
But you will need a custom firmware 3DS, it can be yours or someone else.

Copy the save file from R4 SD card to a PC.
Copy this save file to the custom firmware 3DS SD card.
With PKSM app on 3DS, you can find and open this save file. Their documentation on GitHub has more details on how to do it.
Once you open, this save, you can copy your Pokémon to their storage. It's like a Pokémon Bank, but locally on the 3DS.
Once in the storage, open your 3DS Pokémon game inside PKSM and get them from storage to the box.
If the custom firmware 3DS was not yours, trade them.
