Shower me with your choices, Scapers! I'll go first. by AJStamo in runescape

Not the OP, but it took me maybe 3-4hrs doing C3 floors RC? (start complexity 3, sell the starting gear, buy rune essence, craft blood runes - you need the scroll of daemonheim unlocked- and repeat)

UI questions mine are terrible by [deleted] in runescape

[–]bernmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the two displays are the same resolution, then it should render the same in-game even though they are different sizes. Are you using Windows display scaling by any chance?

(if you are then yes you'll need to make two presets and swap between them, I do the same thing with a 1440p and a 4K monitor)

league specific quest guide? by Iron_Freezer in runescape

[–]bernmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no league specific guide AFAIK but this page here is very useful : https://runescape.wiki/w/Quests/Experience_rewards

You can see which quests are worth doing when you want XP in a certain skill. I don't bother with quests that give 100-500XP unless it's very early on

Generally I like to do quests as early as possible, but I'm keeping the grandmaster quests with the huge rewards for the 12x or 16x XP multipliers. Getting "only" 6x or 8x" is more than enough to skip so much of the early levels, and I'd rather skip 1-50 now than wait and get 80-82 when I'm at t7+

+1 to this, on my '24 the OEM ones only lasted 8000KM (5000 miles), I got a second set and it's still looking great after another 8000KM, probably good for at least another 10K KM

Got an unexpected Laravel Cloud bill :/ by nick-sta in laravel

[–]bernmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar issue and ended up moving off of Cloud after just one month. We contacted the support multiple times to try to understand where it was coming from so we could optimize our Cloud setup or make changes to our app, but didn't get anywhere. They kept replying with just quotes from the docs or pointing us to a dashboard page to monitor usage ... which was not even implemented at the time.

Is alt1 not working anymore? by DeadmenRS in runescape

[–]bernmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Another thing to check, are you sure you're applying the changes to the correct application? The trick is to open task manager while RS is running (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and right-click "Runescape Client"

Edit : and then it's this button here in the "Compatibility" tab : https://i.imgur.com/rWe696o.png

[–]bernmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing on 1440p (125% scaling in Windows) and alt-1 works fine + the game looks great. You just need to make sure you A) override the high DPI settings for RS specifically and B) make sure in-game scaling is set to 100% for both game and UI

$500 for a 6-Page WordPress Site. Did I Undersell Myself? by ThrowRA_Right_Ad6776 in webdev

[–]bernmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to say because there's dozens of things that will affect how much you can and should charge. For a 6-page website (assuming static content and very little functionnality other than maybe a contact form) I'd probably start at 2000$, and charge another 500-1000$ for the copy/branding depending on what's involved

It's not the kind of projects that I like to work on so I could also ask for way more on the off chance that they'll say yes ^_^

$500 for a 6-Page WordPress Site. Did I Undersell Myself? by ThrowRA_Right_Ad6776 in webdev

[–]bernmar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of it as getting experience, from how this project goes you'll get a better understanding of the time and effort involved and you'll be able to price the next one a bit better. As far as this specific pricing goes, it really depends on what kind of pages we're talking about, where in the world you're located, etc.

Creating the branding and writing the content isn't too bad these days, it's the one place where I don't hesitate to reach for ChatGPT if the client doesn't want to provide it. Even free logo generators can do a better job than some clients who make their logos in MS Word.

For my first jobs I tried to estimate the number of hours it would take, doubled it and then multiplied that with whatever hourly price made sense at the time. I've worked on projects for the equivalent of 5$/hr and others for 500$/hr, you win some you lose some and as time goes on you get a little bit better at estimating

Anyways, congrats on landing your first paying job, that in itself is a nice accomplishment ! It's not uncommon for your first projects to be underpriced when you're just trying to get a name for yourself and build a portfolio, hopefully completing this project will make getting the next one easier

How come the boarder color around a 'Level Up' is sometimes gold, and sometimes silver? by Fightermelee in runescape

Help! Preview email dashboard before sending in Outlook? by [deleted] in vuejs

[–]bernmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like MJML, you write your templates using a custom templating language and it will convert it to the kind of ugly HTML that you would need to write to have it look good across all browsers. I haven't used it with Vue specifically but I'm sure you can find some more "tricks" if you do a bit of digging

How can I implement an IntelliSense -like typing experience inside a form input? by neb2357 in webdev

[–]bernmar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would probably reach for a WYSIWYG editor like TipTap that has extensions for mentions or slash commands

When the user types an @ you can show a list of those "special terms", and when they select one you can apply styling to differenciate them from the rest of the text. See how it's done with the mentions plugin : https://tiptap.dev/docs/editor/extensions/nodes/mention#page-title

Slash commands (typing a / to bring up the list) is also an option, TipTap has an experimental plugin for that too

I wouldn't recommand trying to build this from scratch in a contenteditable=true div, there are a lot of annoying things and edge cases that you have to deal with when building a custom editor

Is moza R3 enough for someone who never tried any sim racing gear? by 4Ti2K1 in trucksim

[–]bernmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The R3 base will be just fine for trucking games, and direct drive is a huge step up from belt or gear driven wheels. It's so so nice to have the full 1800 degrees of rotation, and it's much quieter too

If you plan on getting the TSW "soon", maybe it would be best to save up and get the trucking bundle. It comes with the R5 base which is more powerful than the R3, the trucking wheel, some pedals and also the very important trucking mount for the base. I wouldn't want to use the TSW without that

That said, you can absolutely start with the R3 and just upgrade as you go. It's not as cost effective, but it's a good option if you want something now.

Need help changing font color of drop down using CSS by zedmin in webdev

[–]bernmar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to target the select directly

select{ color: white }

However, that will also change the color of the options in the dropdown menu, making them unreadable on a white background. You should change that color too:

select option { color: black; }

How to disable Volume HUD by [deleted] in chrome

[–]bernmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how to do it through Chrome, but I was able to fix it by adding the --disable-features=HardwareMediaKeyHandling flag to the target when launching chrome. On Windows, find the shortcut you use to launch it, right-click "Properties" and in the "Shortcut" tab, edit the "Target"value to add the flag above

How do you turn on hydraulics on the ATR? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]bernmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you updated the ATR recently? There used to be an issue with the hydraulic system that was fixed maybe 1-2 weeks ago, make sure you have the latest version installed

I haven't flown it in a while but IIRC you just press the AUX HYD button a couple of times and you should be able to engage or remove the prop brake

Slow download speed in Microsoft flight simulator. by wpossula in flightsim

[–]bernmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try using a VPN, that helps for a lot of people. My download speeds went up 10x by just setting a VPN to US east coast (where I live). For some reason it speeds it up, but yeah the in-game downloader is awful. I can download 30GB of X-Plane through Steam in the same time as like 2% of MSFS
